Who's hot

• Guard Jamie Nails continued his solid work with another crushing block, this time getting backup defensive tackle Henry Taylor in the morning practice. He did a good job throughout practice as he split time with Mark Dixon in working with the first team.

• Linebacker Scott Shields received a lot of praise from coaches for getting into the backfield very quickly on a toss to the left on a running play. Shield, who switched positions from safety, has excellent speed for his size, 6-4 and 231 pounds.

• Rookie quarterback Tim Levcik made a good read and throw over the middle to wide receiver Robert Baker. aker has been very impressive throughout camp, particularly when running over the middle. He has shown awareness in high-traffic areas.

• The defense controlled the line more often than not in the middle drill in the morning practice. Fullback Deon Dyer paid for that by getting buried by three tacklers at one point.

Who's not

• Cornerback Jamar Fletcher was beaten by WR Ronney Daniels for a catch of longer than 20 yards in the morning practice. Daniels, a free agent pickup not expected to make the team, created space with a stiff arm as the ball was in the air. Fletcher, a first-round pick, was unable to get close enough to deflect the pass.

• It was a rough day for the quarterbacks in the pocket. QB Jay Fiedler fell down on one play when an offensive linemen stepped on his foot. Levcik and running back Jerry Westbrooks collided on a handoff.

Play of the day

• On a throw from Fiedler that was slightly behind WR Oronde Gadsden as he ran across the back of the end zone, Gadsden jumped, turned back toward the ball and reached one hand up to snag the ball cleanly and come down inbounds.

not good for mr. fletcher. it is one thing to get burned by chambers, but a camp fodder wr?

can you say donovan greer?

and why do the coaches keep teeling everyone players like smith and fletcher are "exellent" and have made all this improvement?

every camp report has smith on his back or fletcher being toasted.

camp reports on Smith and Fletch

If it looks like a duck, and it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck...its a duck.

That is what I always say.

Not every report says Fletcher's been getting toasted. For the most part they all acknowledge that he's very up and down. Gets burnt then makes a play. He went two days in a row with interceptions the other day, one of them made play of the day honors.

He's still just a 2nd year CB, I say give the kid a break. The coaches say that nobody, Ray Green or Omare Lowe, has mounted a challenge for the nickel CB role. Donovan Greer has injury worries with him...which is why we didn't sign him.

Well most WR's would probably be able to complete the reception if allowed to stiff arm the DB, I wouldn't be too concerned over this particular reception.

DNY seeing as how you cant post those Sentinel insider reports here, can you post them on HeraldTalk?

What are trying to get me in trouble CK!!!!! :)
