dolphins sign larry johnson

Assuming he was in the best shape of the guys we worked out. Again this can't hurt, they young guys learn some new tricks, and he's better than Sheets.

The Miami Dolphins have signed running back Larry Johnson and waived running back Kory Sheets, it was announced today.
The 6-1, 235 pound Johnson joins Miami after playing last season with the Washington Redskins. The running back has also played with the Cincinnati Bengals (2009) and was originally selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round (27th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft. A two-time Pro Bowler with the Chiefs (2005-06), Johnson has rushed for 6,221 yards on 1,426 carries in his career. He also has rushed for 55 touchdowns and caught 154 receptions for 1,373 yards and six receiving touchdowns in 84 career games.

Nice ! Johnson is better than Portis. Here in washington DC Portis was always hurt and just fell down sometimes on his own.

Wow maybe Miami can go after Shaun Alexander next. Hopefully he never has to get significant playing time and if he does I hope he proves me wrong.

We needed a 3rd string running back and Sheets/Hilliard/Grigsby were not cutting it. If LJ is half the player he used to be, how can you hate this signing from a depth standpoint? You have Bush and Thomas carrying the load, and then you sprinkle in LJ from time to time.

Plus as a Penn State fan, I love seeing the continued growth of Nittany Lions on the team. Worst case scenario is he gets cut after the final preaseason game.

veteran RB's always look good in August. i doubt he gets cut. unfortunately, he's going to be 32, so i fully expect him to start wearing down by November.

Does anyone feel this is an indication of how the Dolphins feel about DT right now? Not happy?

I like this move. I think that means Hilliard will be moved to FB and that Polite may be on his way out depending on if Clay is the TE or FB.

I think LJ will only be with us long enough for us to poach a better RB cut loose somewhere else. At least I hope so.
