According to the Palm Beach Post, the Dolphins have signed linebacker Jim Maxwell and also promoted TE Tim Massaquoi from the practice squad. ALso the Dolphins signed OT Tony Pape and TE Aaron Halterman to the practice squad.

Maxwell is 6'3 1/2" 242 and played collegiately at Gardner-Webb. He was an undrafted free agent signed by the Giants in 2004 and last played for the 49ers last season. Maxwell is know as a high energy special teams player. We all know who Massaquoi is. The other unknown guy is TE Aaron Halterman who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Texans in 2005. Halterman is 6'5" 265 and played collegiately at Indiana. Halterman played in NFL Europe and has experience as a long snapper.

so we signed players that will never be used?

Link please

Its customary to post a link when quoting news sources

These two will be cut within the next few days.

That's what Saban does - signs 2, cuts 2, changes practice squad.. every 2-3 weeks.

We actually need an LB that can play! These cast offs are doing what for us? Keeps people on their toes at the bottom of the depth chart? I understand that HOWEVER I'd rather see some of the starters getting bumped and give some backups or young guys a chance to get it done. Are our backups that bad they can't get a chance? Then we have bigger problems than our 52 and 53rd spot on the roster! Let's make some changes cause what we are doing isn't working. Get Bell out there permanently! Get Spragan the hell off the field - what has he done? Give Newman a shot!

Baffling. We have Chambers(who is going to be double and triple-teamed), Welker, Hagan, Russell(a ST guy who is inactive alot), and Mcmichael (who is banged-upalong with #2 TE Peele) I guess the status of McMike and Peele are the reasons for Massaquoi's promotion to the 53 man squad but is he really gonna come up with a key block catch in this game? He probably won't even be activated. Vick, Gibson, even Patrick Cobbs would have been a better choice.

what reason is there to double/triple team chambers? Has he done anything? From what I've seen so far, teams have been able to cover him with single coverage, why would that change? If a team can succesfully cover the best weapon on the team with single coverage, that does so much for your defense. Players who perform well the year before recieve that respect for the first two to three games of the season. If they're shutdown, teams relax on those guys and focus on other areas. Untill we make chambers into a weapon again, Chambers will see alot more single coverage.

Although, I think he's going to have a big game this week with Booker out. With Joey's quick release and teams having to now account for Welker, we'll FINALLY start to see Chambers produce.

Our biggest improvement in offense was getting Mcmichael the ball. When we can do that on a consistent basis, that too will open up others in the passing game.

I wish Miami had promoted Marcus Vick from the PS.
