Dolphins sign QB Tyler Huntley from Ravens practice squad

Any QB that can extend plays with the speed we have at key positions bodes well for this offense. We have to change up the quick throws and timing when throwing to a spot, but this could end up well if he can pick up the playbook quickly.
Exactly, we need a QB who is mobile and can extend plays. It also gives us the ability to counter how defenses have been scheming against us with a QB who can now hurt them with his legs.

When Tua comes back, cut Skylar or put him on the PS, keep Huntley as the #2, draft OL with the first 2 picks next year and add a few in FA, roll with Tua and Huntley in 2025, then draft a QB in the first round in 2026 unless Tua has stayed healthy the entire time, if so, still draft one early on.

It depends, but some do and some don't IMO. These posters are typically anti everything....Tua, Grier, McD, Ross....it doesn't matter, but they show up in droves when something heads south. Watch the next gameday thread and at our first punt, they will all materialize

I have no problem with reasonable people being frustrated with our currently situation....hell, I am as well. But the whole "blow it up and start over" mentality is crazy to me 2 games into the season and we are 1-1.

Reminds me of all the Grier posts prior to Free Agency and then all of a sudden, the guy was a boss who brought talent in. It gives you whiplash at times.....

Have to let this thing unwind a bit and see what the team does and how they react to this adversity. We have winnable games coming up with Seattle, Tennessee and Indy...... so I don't really see the need to jump out the window just yet
Compare the Texans rebuild with the Dolphins. This was a terrible off season. 6 of the first 7 signed to “replace” Wilkins… gone. Poyer is slowed, Fuller is as well, Brooks? The same. James Cook looked like an All Pro. The OLine can’t pass block against really good OLines, and forced Tua to make a really stupid decision. Hunt wasn’t replaced. Wynn wasn’t replaced. Williams was semi-replaced. WR who can’t stay healthy, one who was signed with the FO KNOWING he.. OBJ would be out 4 games. You guys who think Grier has done a good job.. aside from throwing money around… are fooling yourself. CG has 24 years of gravy with the Dolphins. Caserio has 3 with the Texans. Would you trade GMs?

The Texans actually drafted a franchise QB unlike the Dolphins.

They used their draft picks wisely.

They spent wisely.

They also have a better HC.

Can't disagree with this. Simple and realistic.

Who said Grier is doing a good job?

Every defense in the league has been playing us for quick passing and an immobile quarterback and that has been working. Honestly you don't have to be great in coverage if you know that you only have to cover well for 2 seconds. Maybe a guy that can extend plays gives our receivers more time to create openings. I actually am interested to see how this turns out. I still think our head coach is a glorified offensive coordinator.

Everyone rooting for us to win games, is rooting for Chris Grier to keep his job. You guys do realize that right?
Is it really though? I mean Grier isn't going anywhere unless Ross dies. Even then in the transition to his daughter, he probably has a lifetime contract written in there for Grier.

Would you really want them to do that?

At this point I’m not sure a guy that is available for not top end compensation would bring anymore to the table than a guy in ST who despite his faults has been in the system for a few years and has played games in it. I don’t see any move at this point and time making a big difference in the foreseeable future. I don’t hate this move, just saying it doesn’t mean much in terms of Tua(we know he’s going to be out some time if he even comes back this year) and doesn’t change our competitive level. He had some decent moments starting in place of Lamar Jackson but ultimately he had some really bad moments too and there’s a reason he was the #3 QB there and not the actual back up.

Looks like a very good move. Could have seen him acquired earlier but at this point the little cost is a gift.
He brings a mobility to our QB I can't ever remember seeing . Extremely advantageous and brings another level of excitement along with his speed. But ?

For there to be any advantage and real success Grier has to finally wake his ass up and improve however this OL (like we haven't heard this before) for no one can have success behind our half azz OL and the difference is, his job maybe hanging on a thread and if he over looks this vital and critical, essential upgrade and shines it on....again, He's done !

Expecting one new OL of actual value ...soon. Though still having my fingers crossed. Actually fingers stuck together and hard to uncross due to their years being crossed... JMO

Oh ya also hope McD learns how to us him and truthfully the whole Offense (again with the fingers)
The play of the offensive line early has been dreadful. How many big plays have been called back because of holding? Add in the false starts and Miami is Just killing drives.

It's early so hopefully the team can get more disciplined. But agree the team needs more talent on the line.

Huntley is a pretty exciting pickup. I love athletic quarterbacks and he has that. Gives the team a lot more options in short yardage, where using Tua is a little sketchy.

I not sure how he'll do with quick reads, accuracy etc. But I like the move.

I’m one of the few who isn’t opposed to tanking when the time is right. Right now it just isn’t.

I’d rather suck next season when two generational QB prospects become draft eligible (Manning and Iamaleava)

Since it seems like Tua may return this season, I’d rather keep the team afloat and as competitive as possible in the meanwhile.
Yep. The 25 is not good for top QBs yes some teams will over draft some, but hope not Miami. Plus the team will still win some games based of talent alone even with ST. Huntley is much better.

Let this year ride out win what you can. If Tua ends up done, well then a rebuild is needed. Trade some guy in the off-season tank for 26. I would even but Jackson Arnold above any QB in 25 draft as well as well.
