Dolphins sign RB LaMichael James

I like the move for potential but he has not been good so far in NFL

Top 10 in AVG PR last year. Better than Thigpen, think he's got more upside back there. I'm gonna assume he's signed right to the team and will be our primary PR (seems like I'm wrong). I'd keep Jarvis on KR's.

Don't think this signing has anything to do with his RB prospects, if promoted he's probably still 4th or 5th on the depth chart.

I've watched all of Landry's returns.

Not.

Impressed.

You might need to mute it. That's a highlight video. Again, I'm not getting excited over this.

After on-and-off discussions for two weeks, the Dolphins on Tuesday signed former Oregon star running back LaMichael James to their practice squad.

James, 5-9, requested and received his release from the 49ers after the season opener because he wanted to find a team that would give him a bigger role. With the 49ers, he was third on the depth chart behind Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde.

He hopes he can parlay a practice squad job with the Dolphins into a meaningful role on a 53-man roster, here or elsewhere.

In 15 games over two-plus seasons for the 49ers, James has averaged 4.5 yards per rush on 41 carries and has five receptions for 45 yards.

He also has career averages of 28.4 yards on 26 kickoff returns and a 10.9 average on 23 punt returns. He ranked 10th in the league in punt return average last season.

I hope there wasn't a set back with Moreno they haven't told us about ....

Thanks for the video. I am not getting excited either or for any other player we pick up off of waivers the rest of the season. If he can just hold on to the ball that would be great. Landry has become a liability back there.

He's shifty w. decent speed. His vision isn't overly great and he goes down at first contact.

That said, he's a better returner than Thigpen.

This signing says to me that the front office recognizes a deficiency in the return game. Which is a start.

James may not be the answer but if his signing shows that the front office finally realizes it has a problem, that's a win.

Landry has turned it over way too much. I do not care about any strong returns when you turn it over.
