The Dolphins have cut defensive lineman Derrick Jones and replaced him with Nate Ness, a rookie from Arizona who has previously been cut by the Browns, Jets and Seahawks. Why is Ness getting another opportunity? Because he's 6-foot, 193 pounds and runs a 4.48. The Dolphins have a weakness for two things when it comes to players in their secondary: Big and fast.
In Ness' first day he hung with Ted Ginn Jr. step for step on a deep route from Chad Henne and knocked out (it wasn't dropped) a potential touchdown pass during that one-on-one session.
Nickel cornerback Nate Jones also knocked out a long touchdown pass to Greg Camarillo, and there were a couple of more knock downs during the period, which prompted coach Tony Sparano to yell: "Go get the God damn football. It ain't theirs."
A couple of plays later Brian Hartline roasted Wilson on a takeoff for a touchdown. Read into it what you want.
