Like Brandon Bostick, Webber played wide receiver on the collegiate level and is apparently trying to transition to tight end. According to the Washington Post's database, Webber had some pretty ridiculous numbers during his senior season in 2010, when he caught 101 passes for 1,429 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Pine Bluff Golden Lions, an FCS team. That season included a pair of back-to-back games in which Webber caught 11 passes for over 160 yards and three touchdowns in each. He also had a nine-catch, 243-yard day against Grambling State later that season.

What, if anything, Webber can bring to the table as a blocker remains to be seen. Any strengths he has will certainly be as an athlete and a receiver. Before the 2011 draft, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.50 seconds at his Pro Day, when he measured in at 6'2" and 218 pounds. Now the Packers list him at 6'2" and 237.

Webber has spent a grand total of 176 days on NFL rosters, all during the 2011 training camp (with the Buccaneers) and 2012 offseason (with the Bucs, Seahawks, and Jets). In 2013, he spent some time with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL during their training camp but was released before camp finished.

former Jets and Buccaneers wide receiver Raymond Webber, whom Green Bay is listing as a tight end, on Thursday.

Webber (6-2, 237) played collegiately at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2011, spending the season on injured reserve. He has also had stints with the Jets (2012) and the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders (2013).

The signing of the 24-year-old Webber gives the Packers six tight ends on the roster for the time being, but Jermichael Finley and Andrew Quarless are slated to be unrestricted free agents in March.

Egnew is officially in trouble. Not so much that Webber is going to beat out Egnew, however it's clear with Clay, Hoskins and now Webber that Miami likes small quick tight ends to go with Sims and Arthur as the blocking tight ends. Egnew is sort of a tweener in Miami's tight end corp and might not really have a fit.

Disagree. I think Egnew will have a role. It will allow Lazor to be creative and run more two tight end sets that cater to both running and passing. put two tight ends out there, defense might use its base packages. Linebackers matched up against tight ends = win on many accounts.

Don't get me wrong, I like Egnew, but I think Miami clearly likes the smaller quicker receiving tight ends. They could still go double tight, with Sims and Clay or some sets with Hoskins and Clay.
 
Too many people imagine Egnew having far greater skills than he really does. We all understand that he is not the player that dropped every pass in preseason of his rookie year, but even if he possesses good hands for his position, he still doesn't have the quickness, agility, and fluidity of movement that NFL caliber players have. He was given chances last year, and his sluggishness always stood out on the football field to me.
 
He's only 6'2" 237 so he's like a pumped up WR. Can't think he'd be much of a blocker being that's small. And seeing we're the 5th team he's played for, it doesn't get you too excited.
