According to Draft Daddy.com we have signed Akron TE Kris Kasparek as an undrafted free agent. He's 6'7" 270. Ran a 5.0 second 40 yard dash. Has 10 5/8" hands, 34" arm length, a 32.5" vertical jump, 9'3" broad jump, 4.43 short shuttle, 7.24 in the 3-cone drill and bench pressed 225 pounds 19 times.

He is a TE, and that is actually pretty good speed for a TE, remember there was this one guy named Jerry Rice who ran a 4.7, and he turned out to be pretty good.

temper your excitment guys. Unsigned College draft guys usally make ZERO impact on the team if even making it...

I also wonder why he wasn't drafted, but I know that we have a really good group of coaches that can probably fix whatever he's doing wrong and turn him into a massive threat in the red zone. With those hands, that arm span, and just his overall size, I really think that anyone can be a good football player with the right coaching. Can the guy catch?

5.0 is not good speed for a TE, that is good speed for DL or OL, not TE. With his size, he sounds like a guy that should have been converted to OL back early in his college years. I will be surprise if he isn't just camp fodder.

Maybe a conversion to tackle?

Yes I think so. This is one of the kids I was hoping we'd sign as an UDFA. He has the size, frame, quickness, etc. to play RT at the NFL level. He definitely isn't the finished article, but with Sparano & Co. working with him he's got the chance to deveop into one of those steals you sometimes find in linemen. When I see this kid I can't help but think of Joe Jacoby, who I think was also an UDFA (or at least a late round draft pick ... but they had 12 rounds back then so I'm not certain).

I've been scouring the UDFA lists trying to figure out who signed him, and I'm quite glad we did. Kind of like our G draftee Thomas, he's got potential but is very raw. The big difference for me is that anybody can play G in the NFL, it's possibly the least important position on the starting offense, but T is a tough position to fill, so if you can find a T late, that's a big deal. He may well make Julius Wilson expendable.

Another kid I really liked was Kerry Brown of Appalachain State, who I also think has NFL tackle potential. Neither of these guys are really dominant strength guys, but with the right strength conditioning and technique training I think they could develop into NFL starting caliber players. Unfortunately, we didn't get Brown.

Durrell Mapp an undrafted LB out of UNC put up 28 reps at the combine and this guy gets 19 and some are saying convert him to O-Line.

take it easy guys...you all don't have to fight with each other over every single guy this team bring in.

Ozzy rules!!
