"Bottom line is we had three kicks [that were returned Sunday]; three big plays yielded in the kicking game and during that we [allowed] 72 yards after contact," Sparano said Monday.

"So 72 yards given up after first contact. One should have been down inside the 16-yard line. One should have been down on the 19-yard line. We missed 10 tackles on those three kicks and at the end of the day it cost us points."

I'd like to thank coach Sparano for ending the arguement about Carpenter/Mare and how we need a new punter.

GOOD! I like the fact that he's holding all the players accountable on the coverage units. There's no way we should be playing that poorly on coverage and its about time Sparano put their jobs in jeopardy if they continue to play that way. Time to get the job done or your gone....simple as that.

Going into the season I thought special teams was going to be are only upgrade. It seemed like every player they were getting was a good player but great on special teams.Does anyone think it may have to do with coaching?

Missed tackles is on the players not the coaches, these guys are pros they should know how to tackle by now. It seems like they are always in position, I think thats why the ST coach is still there.

Me thinks this is the shot across the bows in public that reiterates what he has no doubt said in private. Show up or ship out. Its just not good enough.

Yeah It's hard to fault the ST coach when the players are the ones missing tackles.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.
Sparano said while kicker Dan Carpenter booted one a tad short and punter Brandon Fields got a lucky roll on his final punt, he didn't blame them for Sunday's poor field position. But they are surely a factor in the Dolphins ranking last in opponent starting field position and net punting average.

It seems like we never have our gunners close to the punter returner and he gets an easy 5-10 yards before contact.

I read an article a while back about how the coaching staff chose to go with smaller guys on ST i.e. DBs & WRs rather than linebackers. I know every team uses all positions on their ST but I'm curious about our positional break-down in comparison. Nevertheless, the tackling is horrendous.

hopefully they can get it straightened out, because if they dont, its going to end up costing us important games. we're going to be facing some top returners in our next couple of games, we must make sure our ST is doing their job
