With the Orange Bowl set to be demolished soon, I wanted to ask you all a question. We all know that the Fins (unfortunately) haven't been to the Super Bowl in so many years that it's painful to even count. Why was the Orange Bowl so much better in terms of winning? I know the seats are extremely far away from the field at Dolphins Stadium, and there really is no history (of winning anyways) there. Were teams actually afraid so to speak, to play the Fins in the Orange Bowl because it was so loud, or because teams were intimidated to play in such a history riddled place with long home winning streaks? That being said, is there any way make Dolphins stadium harder to play in? Maybe add more seats closer to the field? I know that would be detrimental to the fans that have season tickets right there...but what can we do to make the place harder for opposing teams to play in? R.I.P. Orange Bowl!

Maybe it's because the majority of fans at the OB were native South Floridians who were actually Dolphins fans.
Now half of SF seems to be transplants that already have favorite teams.
Of course, sucking the last few years doesn't help either.

The Orange Bowl could be deafening loud where Dolphin Stadium can't quite match those heights, in part due to the fact they made it wide enough for professional soccer. I'd like to see them lower the field a bit and add more seats. It might help the atmosphere (although winning would help also).

:boohoo:sad but true, sad but true.

This thread seems to pop up all the time. I love Dolphin Stadium, I think its plenty loud, I always seem to sit in a great spot to see the game, i dont understand why this thread comes up all the time.?

Opposing teams were afraid of going into "the Hood."

We need Marty in here to represent, but my understanding is that the OB was tight, loud, and nasty to be at, whereas Dolphins stadium is more of a "lets see a sporting event" kind of place. I haven't had the chance to go to either, and I guess I never will get to check out the OB :(

I said this before, and I'll say it again, we need to play simulated crowd noise in the stadium. If the Colts can get away with it, then so can we... lol.

In all honesty, I hope the Marlins leave and Wayne decides to do something about the seating in the stadium. I think the reason why the seats are so far away from the field is because of the baseball games. If the Marlins leave, we don't need to have an outfield anymore. It would free up all that space on either side of the field, which could be used as seating. Wishful thinking...

Regardless of the stadium.... Dolphins should be winning games at home just for the fact of the weather. Hot & Humid wears on teams from the colder climates.
Back in 2002 & 2003 with Ricky running the ball, controlling the clock, keeping opposing defenses on the field wearing them down during those 1pm Sunday games in the south Florida heat, breaking the curse/losing streak versus the jets. It seemed that way in the 4th quarter of last years superbowl a dome team (Colts) played a cold weather team (Bears)...with only one week to get acclimated to the warmer & more humid weather.
Adding more seats and making the field lower as someone mentioned seems like a good idea, getting fans closer to the field

Getting rid of the Marlins is the first step... I hope the field remains grass when the Hurricanes start playing there this fall, I have a feeling that field is gonna get beat up with those extra games?

I was thinking the exact same thing about somehow lowering the field to add more seats...don't know if it's possible...

I have never been to the Orange Bowl, but have been to Dolphin Stadium. Its very much like Giants Stadium, in fact almost to the T. They sell out and our loud. No reason the same can't be true at DS.

There are a lot of reasons why the Dolphins had a better advantage at the OB. Stadium noise, true Miami fans etc...But the main reason is because those teams were more talented, period. 1971 to 1984 they wnet to 5 SBs. I know that's an earth shattering revalation but they were simply better coached and more talented.

One thing about the Ob besides crowd noise was that it would get so loud and to top it off, the stadium would rock and rattle. The whole thing would shake like crazy it was awesome because the OB was made outta metal whereas dolphin stadium is made of lifeless concrete
