The poll on the main page of finheaven has a staggering number of people choosing Hagan as the starter as the #3 WR this season. I just don't see that happening. Well, at least not on opening day.

Hagan is a 3rd round pick and a rookie. He has lots of talent and is built right for an NFL WR. He has a lot of potential. But that doesn't matter on gameday if you aren't able to get it done.

The most important things for WR's are to simply GET OPEN and CATCH PASSES. The more passes Hagan catches, the closer he will get to taking the starting job. Both Campbell and Welker have proven themselves already at WR. They can both catch passes at the NFL level.

It is highly likely that Welker and Campbell will start the season sharing the role as the #3 WR. They will also split time returning kicks. At some point, Hagan will have the opportunity to get in the game. Every time he does well, he will move a step closer to starting at the #3 WR position. But don't count on him starting there on opening day.

Kelly Campbell makes a lot of sense to be our "starting" #3 receiver. I have that in quotes because a #3 receiver doesn't really start the game. But his familiarity with Culpepper should give him the initial advantage.

i agree id say Kelly cambell would probably be the #3 but Derek Hagan has a good chance to be the #3 with a really good camp

Bingo! That's what TC is for. Saban will play whoever gives the team the bast chance to win. Campbell and Welker are more experienced, but Hagan has the highest celing by far.

IMO im not sure too many of ya'll will agree but i believe Wes Welker deserves it hes got heart and any player that plays with heart i believe is alwayz a good call and i would LOVE to see him get a receiving TD i think hes a great athlete and gots a motor on him and now with culpepper at QB im sure he will be doing alot more damage to the opponet with culpepper being more acurate than gus. I mean last seasone i was seeing wes with alot of oppurtunities just horable passes and it was frustrating but like i said IMO i believe WES should hold that #3 spot down! not taking anything away from the other recievers i just believe hes been there and he deserves it!

I think Campbell will get the nod for experience sake. Hagan will get enough playing time to show that he will be a strter for us in the future.

In my opinion there are at least five guys who could go anywhere in training camp from number three wide reciever to asking "would you like fries with your order sir?" Welker, Campbell, Hagan, Aromashadu, and Murphy. That doesn't even take into account Gibson who was being handed that spot on this board before the draft and the last round of signings, Vick, and/or Broussard.

This will be one of a number of great training camp battles!

Exactly. Dont forget, KC was actually out of football last year.
Welker will come in for "Special situations" deeming "Special plays". Saban wants to save him for returns, which I think he can turn the tide of a game in 1 play.

I have posted over and over-Hagan is gonna be a red-zone demon if he is #3 or slot. No Nickle back in the league is gonna be able to deal with his speed and size.

Aromashadu is also gonna be in the hunt IMO.

Mularky and C-Pepp have gotta be lickin their chops at this point...

Bottom line. I think that Mularky is gonna have more weapons than he knows what to do with.

It all depends on how he does in Pre-Season and TC..
but iv only heard good things about him and u know Nick loves to play rookies so well see... if not im happy with little Wes he did a good job last year

Campbell is going to the the #3, splitting time with Welker so as to not run either player down. Hagan will see some time on the field, if but to season him for the eventual #2 position once Booker is cut for costing too much.

The coaches are going to give Hagan every opportunity to be the #3 WR but i don't think he takes over the job initially. I say Kelly Cambell will be the starter when the season starts and will get demoted when Hagan gets a hang of things.

The One Thing about Wes Welker....Don't Get Me Wrong I love the guy...he is an awsome player and person always giving 110%

But Saban doesn't care about Heart or crap like that. He only Cares about performance and good behavior. I just hope Saban picks the right guy for the #3 slot...no matter who it is. Hagan will excell but not his first year, but on nfl.com they have a story showing Rookie WR catches and throwns and its usually pretty low even Chad J. first year was pretty low
