The Dolphins’ first-team offense could be at full strength for the first time during training camp when they take the field Friday at Dallas for their second preseason game. Coach Adam Gase said he expects running back Arian Foster, who didn’t play in the preseason opener against the New York Giants, to be in the lineup against the Cowboys.
Additionally, it sounds as though wide receiver DeVante Parker, who didn’t play against the Giants while recovering from a hamstring injury, might also start against the Cowboys.
But there’s no word on whether left guard Laremy Tunsil, the rookie first-round pick from Mississippi will start or whether that job will remain with Dallas Thomas. There’s no word on whether Tunsil or Thomas will start the regular season opener on Sept. 11 at Seattle.
The Dolphins haven't had their projected first-team offense on the field together for an extended period during training camp due to injuries and players recovering from injuries.
Foster, the eighth-year player who is coming off a season-ending Achilles injury, has been used sparingly in training camp but he’s been doing more each day.
“Right now I’m pretty sure he’s going to (play at Dallas),” Gase said. “So unless I change my mind for some reason, I want to see him get in there with that first group and get him a little feel for how we operate.”
Parker has been in and out of practice throughout training camp. He didn’t play against the Giants but Gase sounds as though he wants to put Parker on the field soon.
“I think we’re kind getting to the point where it what it is right now, and he’s just got to keep fighting to push himself through the little bit of pain he has remaining,” Gase said. “I feel like he’s trying to do that, and him being out there and showing me, ‘Hey I want to make sure that I get in these games, I need the reps, I need to get in there with the quarterback, I need to get in there on the system as far as getting on the ball. I need to be in there when the adjustment is made and do the right thing.’
