Mar 31 Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports the Cincinnati Bengals are one of four teams that remain interested in free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins). He likely will end up with the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars or Bengals, agent Carl Poston said. A deal could be a while, or it could come soon. "That's just the way this business goes," Poston said. "You never know when something will get done." http://us.rd.yahoo.com/sports/kffl/SIG=11idajbbb/*http://www.kffl.com/entry/index_yahoo_news.php

Harrington update!!

Mar 31 Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports agent David Dunn has been told the Miami Dolphins are preparing a contract offer for his client, Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington. However, some problems remain. Harrington is looking for a deal no longer than two years so he can have enough time to rehabilitate his career as a backup before seeking a starting job somewhere, and he is seeking between $2.5 million and $3 million per season to do it. The Dolphins' salary structure does not typically pay a backup quarterback more than $2 million. Although the Dolphins might be willing to trade one of their three seventh-round picks for Harrington, they cannot meet the higher demands the Lions are likely to make. The Lions want no lower than a sixth-round selection for Harrington and are asking higher than that, according to an NFL source. Miami does not have a fifth- or sixth-round pick this year.

Maddox Update!!

Mar 31 Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports the Miami Dolphins remain interested in free agent QB Tommy Maddox (Steelers), but they have not pursued him in recent days.

Did you really have to start 4 different threads about this?

lavar Arrington is the only Player that can make a difference for the Dolphins next year. Harrington will cost us a draft pick and Tommy is not worth his name on a peice of paper.

Funny, none of those articles say anything really "new" but reinforce where we have been with those guys ?? At any rate, I'm glad we're still interested in these guys...

Clearly Maddox is our second choice behind Joey. Joey needs a change of scenery and could be had monetarily but we don't have much to give up for him..unless Saban dips into 2007 draft (and Detroit buys it)...

I am wondering if Arrington's health isn't a bigger issue than has been let on. The reports all say that the three big teams after him (Fins, Jags, and Cincy) are close to the 'money' end of things. If they're all this close, why hasn't someone stepped forward ?? Is is Poston overvaluing his guy ?? I just have a feeling that the real reason no one has jump on him is the knees...

one more ppost about harrington and im gonna flip. The guy is atrocious and i dont want him. Also, how can you say u dont want lavar arrington. Maybe thee best olb in football right now and all u guys can say is tthat we shouldnt sign him because he wont play his heart out. how the hell do u know if he'll play his heart out. if you have a chance to sign that great of a player, u do it. I think he has a good attitude. He satt on the bench a lot this year and didnt complain at all, so dont tell me he's not gonna play his heart out

I still hope we get Arrington, but I don't like Harrington or Maddox, I'd rather have Jay Fiedler, the best back-up in the NFL.
