Clay, who tied for 10th in receiving yards among NFL tight ends last season, was so impressive his NFL brethren voted him No. 89 on the NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2014. That was better than every other Dolphins player except defensive end Cam Wake, the three-time Pro Bowl selection who was voted No. 66.

Dolphins tight end Charles Clay had a breakout season last year with a career-best 69 receptions for a career-best 759 yards and a career-best six touchdowns. And people noticed.
Now, one of Clay's biggest challenges for the coming season will be getting used to the attention he'll command on and off the field.
Clay's education will continue in this week's three-day OTA (Organized Team Activities), which begins Monday.

This started to happen at the end of last season....I remember when the Pats put Aquib on him for most of the game in their second meeting...

If Clay's demanding extra attention, Lazor shouldn't have a hard time getting Wallace open. I think D's might mix in a little extra coverage his way - as a change of pace - but I think D's will still be most worried with Wallace. As much as Wallace gets ripped on, he opened up things so much for players like Hartline, Clay, Gibson, and Matthews last season. Unless teams think Tannehill just can't connect on deep passes, Wallace will continue to draw the most extra attention.

I didn't remember that, but it's interesting to note that Wallace put up 105 yards and a TD in that game - one of only four games where he averaged better than 10 yards per target.

Hope it's choose your poison next year. Double Wallace ? Clay beats you one on one. Put extra help on Clay ? Tannehill to Wallace for six.

Nice problem to have and Moreno out of the back field should be open all day.

Exactly brother. I am hoping Sims steps it up and can have great year as well.

. Mike Wallace picked a good day to have a big game. With Bill Belichick putting top cornerback Aqib Talib on tight end Charles Clay, the Patriots were daring Wallace and Brian Hartline to beat the Patriots. Wallace had six catches for 105 yards and a touchdown (plus a 13-yard run). Hartline had five catches for 70 yards. They did their part

And let's not forget we now have an OC that will use this to our advantage, could be a chess match during the big games...exciting!

More attention his way means more openings for others they just gotta win when they get their chances...and late motion with the tight ends will also open up some things for clay...

No other tight end on this roster will scare anyone...

Wallace was saying they are moving him all over the place. Our offense should be fun to watch with lots of motion and hopefully an improved running game.

Almost all of clays plays came on the right side where Wallace cleared the way.

Wallace got no credit for that, but you look at the amount of space clay had over there and it's crazy. Jarvis Landry is going to have a freaking field day lined up next to Wallace.

I would agree. If they give Clay THAT much attention I would hope we would be able to find SOMEONE who could catch the ball. If Wallace is one on one that doesn't necessarily mean that we can find him (I would assume the best DB will be on him and that means Revis when we play the Pats), but surely with Hartline looking healthy, Landry, Matthews, Moreno out of the backfield, Gibson (if he is healthy). I think Tannehill is going to have fun this year with a new offense.

I think he takes another big step this year. Pro bowl and top
5 TE.

He wont be a top 5 TE because he s not a TE, he did it last year because of Keller s injury but he s an H-back....

He is a weapon, and a damn good one. He can be placed anywhere on the field and be effective. Even Bigger and better years are in store for him in this offense.
