Dolphins | Team appears to have lost interest in Ashworth
Sun, 19 Mar 2006 06:20:30 -0800
Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/22/nfl">Miami Dolphins have apparently lost interest in free agent OT Tom Ashworth (Patriots).

He is too expensive and really not worth the money at all.

Ashworth is a solid tackle but i guess he wants alot after being on 3 SB teams. if he wants even half as much as hutchison got dont sign him

if we can sign arrington or peterson at the lb position and as i hear will allen could join us at cb to increase our secondary we need another guard or tackle and i think we could get a quality g/t in the draft...

if we are not going to get ashworth.then we better get a lb in either arrington or peterson

idk about will allen being from ny i've seen him screw up many times but you know what if he signed i wouldnt be pissed we need corners

He would be a good addition but I don't think we should try to buy everybody on the market. There is only so much money to go around. We still need to sign draft picks and players do get released later on in free agency. Ashworth is good but I don't think we should spend all of our cap on every guy who visits the phins. We might be able to find someone who could fill the same need in the draft. I would prefer a young guy that Houck could mold in his own image. Just my opinion though.

the draft has two guys we can get, gilles from georgia is a huge guard and the guy from LSU who is a right tackle both will be around at 16

I agree- Ashworth was looked at around the same time we signed Shelton and I really dont think we ever had the intention of signing both. I would rather have one of the LBs anyway.

Another average player asking for alot of money. He will price himself to high. He will wind up signing with a losing team with alot of cap space.
