Dolphins | Team hopes Quinn falls to them

Greg A. Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports with the Houston Texans dropping to the No. 10 pick, that means there is one fewer team of ahead of the Miami Dolphins (No. 9 pick) who might take Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn. The Oakland Raiders (first overall), Detroit Lions (second), and Minnesota Vikings (seventh) all could consider Quinn or the other top-rated quarterback, LSU QB JaMarcus Russell.

I think we are all hoping Quinn falls to us and if the Viking or Cleveland get Carr it can happen.

Cleveland could also be considering him. I don't understand why everyone keeps ignoring that possibility.

I would like to point out that we are also probably hoping Calvin Johnson and Joe Thomas fall to us as well. Not exactly sure how this qualifies as "news."

Its news, on a very slow time of the year. I post these things so other readers who appeciate this can think of the possibilities of us drafting Quinn. It also comfirms that we are very much Interested in replacing our QB. You dont like it dont read it and dont post in my thread

I didn't mean to imply you should not have posted it. I would expect any Dolphins news to get posted here. I'm just surprised KFFL did.

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that this confirms anything except a reporter's speculation.

Oh ok! Everything is real slow right now and KFFL has been a bit crappy as of late.

Talk about a rough crowd.

Nowhere does it say that RandyCam wants Quinn.
It is just speculation.

This just in: Dolphins hope Calvin Johnson falls to them

Sorry...it was too tempting.

I think with the Texans now out of the equation we have a much more realistic chance to get Quinn. I think it gives us a good chance to get a top offensive guy overall in general as the Falcs are likely to go Defense. Landry has to be considered their top pick, although they will strongly look at Adams/Anderson/Carriker and possibly Branch/Okoye.

I certainly hope we are able to get Quinn either at the 9 or trading up. Elite franchise QB's like him come around rarely and we'd have to really tank in order to get Brian Brohm next year. I wonder what became of Quinn's 2nd interview with Cameron, the one where he was supposed to have all his ND plays memorized.

I like Quinn, but I'm not sold on him being an elite QB in this league. Part of me says he can be like a Brees or a Palmer, and the other part of me says he may be like Ryan Leaf or Joey Harrington. Certain QB's, like Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, etc u know are "elite" as u put it . . . Quinn IMO is in that grey area of a Rex Grossman, David Carr, Charlie Frye where the potential is there but will it be fulfilled. I think Quinn needs the right system and team for him to be successful in the NFL. I don't know if that teams is Miami. HOwever I would be dissappointed if Miami didn't snatch him at 9 if he fell to us . . . just like arizona did with Leinart. U just don't pass on potential franchise QB's when they fall in your lap . . . I don't agree with trading up for Quinn at all however.

While I wouldn't consider Quinn the can't miss prospect that Peyton Manning was coming out of college, he is much more well regarded than Charlie Frye and Grossman were coming out of college. I'd say that Russell may have more potential, Quinn is the safest QB in the draft. He should be a guy that can step in immediately and develop into a good starting QB in a year or two, much like Matt Leinart is in the process of doing now.

True, Quinn's not a 100% guarantee to succeed but he has something Grossman, Carr, Frye, and especially Leaf don't have: tremendous work ethic (the guy takes the initiative to check out Patriot tapes of Tom Brady), smart decision making, and experience in a pro style offense from college. The only thing that would possibly keep him from succeeding is physical skills and being on a hopeless team with no offense. Weis taught him well and I'm sure if he comes here, we'll have the QB coaching abilities to keep Quinn on his feet. I'm pretty sure his short-medium game would translate well to a Cameron offense and not to mention our QB coach was his draft mentor.
