Dolphins | Team may target Teague
Wed, 15 Mar 2006 22:30:22 -0800
Harvey Fialkov, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports free agent OC Trey Teague (Bills) is a potential free-agent target for the Miami Dolphins.

I don't know too much about him. Maybe some Bills fans can give us some insight. Would he be an upgrade over Hadnot?

We need someone better than HADNOT and McKINNEY ... nuff said ...

Doesn't have to be stellar ... just better than either of these 2 ...

Regardless of how much we improve at TACKLE ... our line will improve only as much as we improve at CENTER !

I thought Hadnot was a favorite among Dolfans...He has to limit his penalties...

I THOUGHT HADNOT DID A GOOD JOB WHEN HE PLAYED ???

Hadnot was average at best playing center and RG (IMO)... But he's still very young and very raw, I think Hadnot has a lot of potential and will become a very good player.

I see training camp competions shaping out like this...(If we don't get Ashworth)

LT - Shelton/Alabi
LG - Jeno James
C - FA -or- Draft pick/ Hadnot
RG - Hadnot/Carey
RT - Carey/Alabi

i was definitely happy with hadnot at center, i think the emphasis should be on tackle. i've said this before, but i think we should get vernon carey back to guard, i think he would improve greatly by that switch if we can find a good RT to play outside of him.

What about Jeff Mitchell? According to Scouts ESPN he's the 2nd best center available. How come nobody's talking about him?

I don't know about that buddy. Your Tackle positions are the anchor of your line, they are easily the most integral part of an offensive (and defensive) line. Center is probably the least important and are a dime a dozen. A great example of this is look at the money they're getting. Besides LeCharles Bentley, they're frequently considered the most underpaid lineman, and generally seen to be somewhat interchangeable. Not saying its not an important position, or that its not good to have a rock there for years. I'm just saying your phrase "We're only as good as our center, or our improvement will only get better with the upgrade of a center" seems to be a bit overexaggerated

I'd rather prefer Mitchell than somebody from the Jills i've never heard of.

Most folks are comparing HADNOT to McKINNEY ... so that doesn't say much ...

What does 'he played better than McKINNEY' really mean -- not much. McKINNEY is just not very good ...

Most folks also like the way HADNOT plays [as do I] ... with a lot of passion and heart.

The problem with him is his arms ... they are too short - and limit him, although he has done decent with HHs 'technique' ...

HADNOT will be serviceable and a solid back-up .. but he will never be a stud OL [G or C] ...

WRT to the CENTER position ... I am talking about 'our' OL .. not all OLs ...

We can get 2 FRANCHISE Cs ... and leave McKINNEY in there ... and then tell me CENTER doesn't matter.

Clearly, we don't need an ALL STAR at C ... but we at LEAST need an average one !

In the big picture ... TACKLES ARE much important than Cs .... but given the current state of OUR OL ... I believe that upgrading C is absolutely critical to our offenses success.

He'll be better than McKinney! Either way....WE"RE NOT DONE. I'm sure Saban still has some pickups to make along the oline.
