For the first time since high school, Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown will truly be the man in the spotlight.

Brown was sorry to hear about Ricky Williams' one-year suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse program for the fourth time, but excited about silencing detractors who have said he only flourishes in a two-back system.

"At the same time, I was excited about getting to do a few more
things," Brown said. "I think that it was helpful last year to have someone like Ricky that I could learn from and, at the same time, split carries with, ease into it and get the feel for it. It has made me more comfortable."

Williams gained 743 yards on 168 carries last year, while Brown had 907 yards on 207 carries with four touchdowns in his rookie season. While at Auburn, Brown mostly served as either Carnell Williams' backup or partner, starting 21 of 47 games.

Brown, who also is an outstanding receiver, had 32 catches for 232 yards last year. With Pro Bowl quarterback Daunte Culpepper behind center, Brown may finally prove that he can be a headliner, and not just a co-star.

good luck to roonie next season , i predict 1450 yrds and 10 td ,maybe 450 reciving yards as well

I think 1500 yards next year. It may sound too much but I think it's possible. I think 13 TOTAL TD's and 500 yards catching. I know I'm a homer but I think this guy will be awesome next year.

Nice read. I'm glad too hear Ronnie being excited about the tremendous situation he's been placed in. Which top 10 rookie from the 2005 draft are in a better spot than he is? I really feel it's either him, Braylan Edwards, or Shawn Merriman will be the best player of that draft class.

He's a better player than Larry Johnson. However, Johnson runs behind a better line.

Last year Ronnie, if he didn't lose playing time to Ricky had a chance at a 1,200yd season rushing behind our improved, but not great O-line last year. This year the O-line is even more improved and we have a Pro-Bowl QB back there that will prevent D's from stacking 8 men in the box. D's around the league are truly going to hate playing us becuase they are going to be forced into more 1 on 1 situations when it comes to tackling Ronnie and they had more than enough trouble this year gang tackling him. Due to the factors listed above I'm going to make a bold and hopeful prediction of 1,650-1,750yds on the ground with 15td's. I also beleive Ronnie will be looking at 400yds receiveing with another 4-5td's.

This is a nice assesment of who may end up being the best player from this draft, but I beleive another name you might want to throw into this category would be Charlie Frye. When I watched him play last year unlike most rookie Qb's he didn't seem overwhelmed like most rookie QB's and he has a very nice skill set to be something special in this league. I still beleive Ronnie will be the best, but this kid will be right up there with him.

He would have made 1,200 easily. Definitely more than that.

Frye, Crowder, Tatupu, Brown, Carnell, Braylon

Will be some of the best out of that draft
