Nobody wants to hear this, but we need a backup QB. The FA market has been picked over and we didn't sniff a backup. FA QBs are expensive, drafting one is a money saver. They could try for Moore again, but he is very expensive. Unless they think they can pick one up after June 1 cuts, I think they logically have to draft a QB. Can they wait until round 4? I wouldn't. That's why I would go QB round 2, a move I am quite sure will be resoundingly hated on this forum.

Brett Hundley QB UCLA in rd 2.

The market determines that and right now, that price is dropping. Further, there are several other options still available. I'd be fine with him or Colt McCoy. A second round pick on a backup QB, particularly in this weak class, would be silly given our several other much bigger needs.

As if we don't still have major holes to fill we're going to get a backup QB in the 2nd round....right. Must be another Tannehill hater.

As it is, by trading away our 3rd round pick, the draft went from BPA to drafting for need. 6 picks and only 1 pick on the 2nd day. Even if you trade down you sacrifice quality for quantity like we did when we traded down and passed up Earl Thomas (who I wanted badly) for Jared Odrick and Koa Misi...neither of which has had the impact of an Earl Thomas. Our biggest need right now is OG/OT and linebacker and those positions will be our first 2 picks.

You want to pass on up a tier 2 OL, MLB, CB, etc. for a backup QB in the 2nd? You do know the first 3-4 rounds should be starting or have a large role right?

With your theory

1. DeVante Parker / Eric Kendricks / La'el Collins / Trae Waynes
2. Brett Hundley.....keep in mind our next pick isn't until the 4th, mid 4th at that.

What happens when we go with Parker/Collins and all of the CB with starting potential are gone? Or we go with Waynes/Kendricks and there are no alpha receivers in the 4th? Bad idea.

So let's pass on a STARTER in round 2 ....for a back up?

Who told you it was a good idea to voice that thought.

Couldn't disagree with you more, but give you credit for putting on your flame suit and posting anyway.

I think Hundley is very underrated, and I doubt that he'll be available at 47. He's also maybe the last QB you'd consider drafting. Understanding that, if he were there at 47, I would still pass. This team has made an investment in Tannehill, and he's still improving and looks like he'll be good enough to win with. If you really are speaking of Hundley truly as a backup, can't do a 2nd round pick for a guy that might play. That's nuts.

If Tanny goes down, it won't matter who we have at QB. Sorry, but I cannot see us wasting a second rounder on a QB. Not when we need help on the O-line, a CB, Safety, and LB. I could see us taking a QB in the 6th round like Cody Fajardo,,,here is a review on him:

STRENGTHS Dangerous with his legs. Effective zone-scheme runner and scrambler. Good pre-snap recognition of blitz and finds hot read. Shows some pocket awareness and will slide to create space. Uses his eyes to move safety. Will take shots over the top against press-man, single-high safety coverage. Accurate, confident thrower on the move. Adequate accuracy to boundary and utilizes back-shoulder throws when necessary. Looked to slide to finish runs rather than allow contact in 2014 after playing hurt in 2013. Two-time team captain. One of only two players in FBS history (Colin Kaepernick) to throw for 9,000 yards and rush for 3,000 yards during career. Wants to be better as a passer. Attended Manning Passing Academy three years in a row.

And if Tannehill fails again, the Phins are starting all over yet again. I'd rather have a developmental backup QB in round 2 than another OG for Christsake. This is a money saving move, an insurance policy if Tannehill goes down, and a new QB in waiting if we decide not to give Tannehill stupid money next year if we decide he's not worth stupid money. Like it or not guys, the Phins will either spend more money than they should for a backup QB, or they will draft one. The only one I would want that will fall to us that I could see as a decent developmental project is Hundley.

Brett Hundley sucks. I do not understand all of the hype about him. Every time I put a UCLA game on he was terrible. Nothing ever impressed me about him. He will take a ton of sacks and throw a bunch of picks if he ever sees the field in the NFL.

It is quite funny how Bill Belicheck always has holes to fill, has Tom Brady for a QB, and he will still ignore other needs to draft developmental QBs despite this. He has used draft picks as high as second round for this, and has drafted QBs repeatedly. Yet you "smart guys" have it all figured out.
