Linebacker Danny Lansanah is expected to sign with Dolphins today, pending a physical exam, according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times (on Twitter).

Earlier today, the Dolphins auditioned a trio of linebackers, including Brandon Spikes and former Lions LB Jerry Franklin. Though it has yet to be confirmed, Lansanah was likely the third player involved in those auditions. After signing Lansanah, Miami might not have a spot for Spikes or Franklin.
Lansanah, 31 in a few weeks, has spent the last two seasons and change with Tampa Bay. Over the last two years, Lansanah has appeared in every regular season game for the Bucs, making 22 total starts. In 2014, Lansanah recorded three interceptions, eight pass breakups, 1.5 sacks, and 81 total tackles. His production tailed off last season, though he still notched 47 tackles, one sack, and four pass breakups.

I don't know much about him, but good to see we are trying to get some depth at LB.

Definitely not a bad thing. He's listed as an OLB, in case some were worried about Alonso.

This must mean that none of our UDFA linebackers are shining as bright as they hoped they would.

He's a strongside backer, so this would likely be backing up Misi.

up next we are gonna find out that vigil has gone under the knife

He had some good reviews when he got his chance in Tampa but failed to earn a spot last year. Played the run well. Looks like a big dude at 6'1 256.

A 31 year old LB?

My thought exactly. Maybe his experience...sharing such pearls of wisdom with the younger guys?? Hell if I know. Heck, he might not even make the roster come September 3rd (or is it the 4th?) so let's wait and see what happens.

:err:
