Dolphins to visit top 2 QBs in NFL draft

Dolphins coach Cam Cameron and General Manager Randy Mueller are hitting the road to personally scout the top two quarterbacks in this year's NFL Draft.

A source said Cameron and Mueller will visit today with Louisiana State's JaMarcus Russell before heading to meet Tuesday with Notre Dame's Brady Quinn.

"I think they are great talents," Mueller said of Russell and Quinn while evaluating both at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. "I'm anxious to see a lot of [top prospects] go through the spring, how they handle it, how they work out."

interesting...flying down themselves...for sure we go for one or the other i say quinn b/c we dont have a 3rd qb and i doubt DC stays on our roster.
 
i hope cam isnt going to use his extra poics to trade up because that would cripple us

Doesn't mean anything really. I'd be surprised if we didn't do it.
 
Teams only get 30 pre-draft meetings with players. I doubt they'd waste one on Russell if they weren't planning on trading up. Quinn has an outside shot of lasting until the 9th pick but there is no chance Russell slides that far. I think Quinn will be the better QB but it seems like most teams love Russell because of his arm.

:err: Considering he is a top QB and it is a position of need it would be folly for us not to show interest. Oakland takes Johnson and Cleveland takes Quinn, Russell is the one who slides to us.
 
The big deal in this draft should be to trade up without losing many picks in the deal. DC, Booker or Ricky may ease the deal. This way we may pick any of those to become our franchise passer and fill the holes in a correct way.
 
Ricky is not worth very much in a trade and neither is Culpepper. Draft picks will rule the day.

I don't think the Browns will take Quinn over Russell anyway. Russell seems like more of a fit in Minnesota than Quinn does as well so I can see them passing on Quinn if he was there and drafting Russell. Don't you agree that there is a much higher chance of Quinn falling than Russell?
 
Yes mainly because of Savage and his connections with Russell. Minnesota however, is a poor poor poor fit in Minnesota. It would Daunte version 2 for them in an offense that would go completely against the strengths of that kid.
 
I never remember the new offense in Minnesota. They're totally dependent on the running game now and they have nothing at the reciever position. Thinking about it, it would be a poor fit for Russell. Good post.
 
Why thank you. Their WCO is not one to take too many chances atleast with the pathetic WR core. I could see them being interested in Adrian Peterson. Chester Taylor averaging 4.0 YPC behind that line? That is ridiculous...
 
They seem to like Chester Taylor so I can't see them going with Peterson. If I were them, I'd be trying as hard as I could to trade up for Calvin Johnson. Their offense doesn't take many chances now but he is the kind of player that would change the philosophy. It would kind of be like Reggie Bush but not as profound. Sean Payton said as soon as Bush dropped to them, he started coming up with new plays that involved him. I think Childress would do the same thing if they could get Johnson. He'd at least use more big passing plays.
