The Miami Dolphins have scheduled a private workout with former Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson, a source told ESPN.com.
Grayson is considered in the second tier of quarterbacks behind projected first-round picks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. Grayson is expected to go anywhere between the second and fourth rounds.
The private workout is somewhat surprising because the Dolphins are set at quarterback. They have a young starter in Ryan Tannehill, 26, who has made 48 consecutive starts, and re-signed veteran backup Matt Moore. But Miami does not have a developmental third quarterback on the roster.
Grayson put up prolific numbers at Colorado State. Last year he threw for 4,006 yards, 32 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
According to ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold, Grayson completed 70-of-74 throws Monday during his pro day and ran a 4.61 in the 40-yard dash.
