Dolphins Took a $9.5 mil+ cap hit?

I think $5 million is Gus. Not sure though.

Hi LT21, I remember reading this somewhere. I believe that releasing Gus would bring that number down quite a bit.
Hey LT21 what's the latest news on Brees? Have you heard anything as of late?

This was because numerous players reached not-likely to be earned incentives...

When NLTBE incentves are reached they are debited from the next years cap.

The reverse is Likely to be earned incentives... These are credited on the year of the contract...But if they are not reached the club receives a "credit" for the next year.

Basically several seahawks didn't reach their LTBE incentives so they got a credit. With the vikes Culpeppers injury stopped him from reaching many escalators in his contract. This gives them a large credit.

Most of this can be taking care of by Re-doing Gus F. contract, or by cutting the guy.The Fins are about 1.3 mill over the cap w/ gus on the roster.Once Saban knows most about the cba cap number(which can be 94.5mill or around 104 mill.)The fin may find themselves about 7mill under the cap.

Cut
Gus
Bowen- Matt Roth has to step up quickly
Mare -thats about 9mill here

re-do
Zach
JT giving them more up front money

when it's all say and Done the Fin could be about 11mill up if the cap is 94.5
or 21 mill if the cap is 104 mill

I know we all love Mare, but you can't pay a kicker 2mill
and I like Mare but he's a cap casualty in my book

I new about thr $9.5 million, but I didnt know that was BY FAR the biggest "charge" of any team in the league! Yikes.

Good find.

Would Mare really erase so much?? Does anybody feel confident with this guy kicking the Super Bowl winning kick for us??

I wish I could. But I don't. Although he stepped up some last year.

Who is out there that can replace him, though? You can't just cut a kicker without having someone legit to step up. Look at the Dallas kicker situation.

Mare is making a lot but his kick offs are still among the best tho in the last few years he has missed some important field goal tries.....if we cut him we'll still need to find another kicker so we'll see.

Ozzy rules!!

I never understood why Wanny gave a big contract to a kicker. Wanny is/was a JJ disciple. JJ always drafted/signed a rookie kicker every year at Dallas. His theory was spend the max under the cap for players not specialists.

Vinatieri is free...or draft a good field goal kicker in the later rounds..Donnie Jones came in as a rookie and was a probowler punter for us.
