Dolphins top 10 sack leaders

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...er-sack-leaders-pg-20141203-photogallery.html

Four of the top 10 were played at the same time:

10. AJ Duhe
T8. Kim Bokamper
T8. Bob Baumhower
4. Doug Betters

That Killer-Bs defense was a blast to watch. Coached by Bill Arnsparger. Man I miss great coaching.
you forgot Vern DenHerder - he always gets forgotten about by fins fans for some reason. He was so disruptive - clocked in at no 5. He ran w the guys above - actually straddled the no names and the killer bees

He was at the tail end of his career. I was referring to the group whose years almost completely overlapped.

perhaps. But he is the only guy on that list who played in Super Bowls in both eras. His best years were indeed w the No Name D - he doesn't get the recognition as Stanfill but if you look year by year they traded for the team lead in sacks and finished w just about the same amount. He was one of the most underrated (by the fans) fins of all time. I remember a thread on here asking us who the best pass rushers in team history were. He was the only guy on that list not mentioned. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go call my son Vern :)

No arguments about Den Herder. Great player. I agree he is underrated. He just didn't get the recognition of others in the no name D, even during his playing days. That led to him being overlooked by the fans. Here is a quote from wikipedia about the No Name Defense:

It was led by linebacker Nick Buoniconti, end Bill Stanfill, tackle Manny Fernandez, and safeties Dick Anderson and Jake Scott. In all, nine players—Csonka, Morris, Warfield, Little, Evans, Buoniconti, Stanfill, Anderson and Scott—were selected to the Pro Bowl, and Morrall, Stanfill and Anderson were named 1st team All-Pro.[1]

And another from a page about Den Herder:

As the NFL did not officially maintain sack records until 1982,[4] he unofficially led the Dolphins in sacks in 1972 with 10½

Even at the time, the team sack leader was not mentioned as a leader of the defense.

it baffles me that some people dont think that Cam belongs in the honor roll. Its not his fault that he played in ****ty teams

really good find. I believe he led them 2x in sacks and Stanfill did 2x during the 71-74 years. DenHerder also recovered 24 fumbles which is pretty impressive. He stood out on the field due to his lanky frame / tall and long arms. Very disruptive and I guess on the No Name team you can only mention so many guys. I'm sure he doesn't mind being underrated w his SB rings and all. Really good find finfaninbuff.

I was 10 years old in 1972 and had just started following the team (while living in Buffalo, NY). Nick Buoniconti, Bill Stanfill, Manny Fernandez, Dick Anderson Jake Scott, Csonka, Morris, Warfield, Little, Griese, Kiick, Kuechenberg, Langer, Earl Morrall, and even Garo Yepremian just sucked up all the press coverage.

As you said, he probably doesn't care. Good for him. Great player.

oh man - that must have been a thrill for you at that age. I just missed the SB years but my older brother is about same age as you and had same experience. Awesome you got to live thorough the SB winning years.
