While I agree with JT that it is the players that are not executing, but the real blame falls on Parcells, Sparano and Ireland because of the way they built the team and the utilization of the players along with the game plan they used to try to succeed.
Bill Parcells is no longer around. He's too busy doing commentary on ESPN, so it's impossible to point the fingers of blame at the team's former czar, the man anointed to rebuild this once-proud franchise.

Too bad Parcells used an outdated blueprint to construct a faulty structure before cashing out, wiping his hands and walking away from his Davie office like he was a dealer at the Hard Rock.

Parcells is lucky we'll soon get to the point where it's more important to figure out who cleans it up when the pieces come crumbling down. We're not there yet, but the structure's clearly damaged and weak.

"[I'm] not blaming our performance on anything else besides us not making plays on the field," Jason Taylor said. "Coach [Tony] Sparano is not going to miss a tackle."

That's the linebackers and defensive linemen, who have missed plenty, and that includes Taylor.

"[Defensive coordinator] Mike Nolan is not going to blow a coverage," Taylor continued.

That's the members of the Dolphins' secondary, especially free safety Reshad Jones, who has played like the second coming of Gibril Wilson in his two starts.

"[Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll] is not going to throw an interception or do anything wrong on offense," Taylor said referring to Henne, his protectors and weapons, which begin their third season of having an allergic reaction to the end zone, forcing the team to lean on field goals for points.

"Those guys aren't on the field. [Team owner] Stephen Ross is not on the field. [The media] are not on the field," Taylor said Thursday. "It's all us. It's as simple as that."

Blood wouldn't have been as bad had he not skipped town before he knowingly knew all hell that was inevitably about to break loose.....

hopefully whoever ross hires after he cans tony can right the ship, i wish he would pick up the phone and call every football person he knows before deciding who to hire. Well every football person he knows besides Bill Parcells...

The mistake Parcells made, IMO, is giving too much weight to knowing Ireland and Sparano personally in hiring them. There were better candidates out there IMO.

What you fail to see is this team was headed in the right direction until Ross bought the team.....we do not know how much influence he has on all personal decsions and we probably will never know......my eyes tell me Ross is the problem and this team will always be average at best and 1-15 at worst which we will be if Ross cleans house and hires a GM and Coach on his own....all you guys screaming for this FO to get fired, becareful of what you wish for, you just might get it.......

Yeah, the other two notable candidates he interviewed were Rex Ryan and Jim Schwartz. Makes you want to shake your head with the fact that he choose Captain Sausage and Peppers over those two.

You are right on this one, IMO Parcels only mistake was hiring Sparano over Rex.....after he interviewed Rex he loved him but Sparano was his boy so he went with him and then told the Jets to how much Rex impressed him.......Rex is the real deal.......Jets will be in the hunt for years......

Cronyism and Nepotism is how the ancient empires fell in history. In sports management it can begat ineptitude, blandness, losing, and overall indifference. Hire the best person and look at the individual. If everyone hired their brother in law, next door neighbore, poker buddy, or best friend from High School how can we ever get exposed to new ideas and be able to adapt to change? Ross needs to ask the right questions to the right people and take on a consultant that is not named Bill Parcells. He needs to ask his point man what criteria that he would go through when it comes to making a hiring decision.

Cronyism and Nepotism. How dare one think thats happened here. It seems to be out of the question and soar subject to suggest Ross look beyond the traditional hiring methods.

I'm optimistic things will change real soon.

The first mistsake was taking Long over Ryan. Long is a great LT, but when you have such a hole at QB you have to fill that need first.

I don't know if Ross caused it, but I do feel that Ross is not going to solve it and that we are pretty much screwed as long as he is the owner...

He named Sparano head coach because he wanted him to be a puppet. He wanted things to be done HIS way, he just didn't want to be the one on the sidelines. He knew neither Rex or Smith would have put up with that. We all bash Sparano, but hell, he was put in a no win situation once the "puppet master" up and left. Poor guy had no real HC experience, and he is pretty much learning on the fly in the NFL for God sake!

And it looks like he hasn't learned a damn thing in 4 years.
