Wilford, whose four-year, $16 million contract included a $6 million signing bonus, disappointed at least some of his teammates by not playing well enough to be activated for the season opener...

"As a veteran player, you go to a guy like Ernest and say, 'Look, I don't know what's going on, but let's get it fixed,''" defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday said Wednesday in the locker room. " ... And I'm not the only player in here who says that.

"He said it himself. He said, 'Look, don't worry; I'm going to get it fixed.' "

Coach Tony Sparano suggested that Wilford wasn't activated in part because he doesn't play on special teams, and that reduces his game-day value. Still, Sparano said Wednesday that Wilford has improved in practice the last couple of weeks.

"He seems to have caught his second wind," Sparano said.

We need this guy badly to step up. What a waste so far.

people trash ginn because all he is, is speed. Well, all Wilford is, is Tall.

I don't freaking get it, why isn't this guy playing? The receivers didn't do crap last week. Just put the guy in the game period.

One thing will say because i live in jacksonville is that wilford was never a workout warrior like reggie williams but on game day williams never showed up and wilford was always clutch

Yo, wake up! People bash Ginn because he doesn't produce consistently. Just as Wilford.

Ginn is fast, Wilford is tall.. both underachieve.

ones been inthe league for 5 years. Ones been in the league for 1.5. And that first year, was under Cam Cameron.

But i dont wanna make this about Ginn. Wilford has kind of always underachieved. As a Jag, he never emerged as a good wr, on a team that desperately needed it for so long. The Jags let him go knowing exactly what he was capable of.

Holiday talks too much. At least Feeley, the kicker, didn't comment on players.

Holliday was one of JT's thugs that lead the mutiny against Cameron, as well as a 1-15 season. He needs to keep his mouth shut.

GOD MAN!! this totally starting to sound like WANNY all over again!!

i was all for the tuna [still am]. questioned his choice for H/C and
now i am even more scared! and iwas coming around in pre season
but game one was amatuer hour andnow we are getting statements
like this.

couldnt play special teams? i never heard one thing in ANY of the
pressers when he signed that his "special teams prowess" was part
of the deal.

sorry, they reached on a big target, over payed him and now will
not admit there mistake. instead, soparano is taking the wanny
road and telling us he cant play special teams.

sparano is treating us like we are ALL idiots!

long, long season ahead.

9-11. NEVER FORGET!!

wilford has been able to play good football for the jags in his career... i believe he'll be able to step up, it's not like he doesn't have any intangibles or experience so i don't understand why he couldn't,
he just needs a few balls to get his confidence --> LOL
