Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans are coming to town Sunday. And because they are, we will know right away whether all of those changes to Miami’s roster and the coaching staff this offseason paid off.

Because Mariota might expose what has been the defense’s No. 1 vulnerable since Adam Gase was hired.

He can throw. But more importantly, he can also run. Really, really fast.

“I think it’s hard to replicate [Mariota’s] speed and kind of the ability to change directions,” Gase said. “He’s a better athlete really than almost every guy that you have on defense.”

Historically, that’s been bad news for the Dolphins.

In Gase’s first two seasons in Miami, dual-threat quarterbacks have absolutely roasted the Dolphins. They have thrown 18 touchdowns to just two interceptions. They have averaged 7.7 yards per carry. And they have won six of nine games.

They might have a "spy" placed on Marriota if they are so worried. But you are right in regards to the teams past failings. Let's see if Coach Gase is truly of the great coaching minds?????

Stop playing games and get the 2nd SS off the damn field. Put fitz deep, blitz the F out of Mariota and force him to make fast decisons... spy him with Baker if you have to. The problem with all of this of course is they will probably gash us with the run(Henry and lewis).

Bakers the ideal guy for spying with. Put minkah in the middle of the field and ask him to roam numbers to numbers with baker dropping and spying

Curious but how often does Mariota leave the pocket? The few times i watch him doesn't suggest that he uses his legs often to make plays. Hell that was case, iirc when we last played them.

He's certainly capable of it and you should have a plan in place for it. But he's not pulling a Mike Vick/RGIII out there with his legs on most plays

Its more mariotas top end speed than anything else you got to worry about. He can out run angles at your second level.

This is what I mentioned in another post. With our wide 9 and the DEs taking wide angles we need to blitz the gap between G and T hard. Dont let him feel he can step up and slide outside the pocket. I dont think he commands a spy but I do say you need someone coming often up the middle so he wont get comfy. I'll be honest tho, just watching the Panthers preseason game, Quinn cuts his curve off a helluva lot shorter than wale it looked like. I think we are gonna get burnt by Henry a few times but I think our D can potentially make life hell for MM at the same time

I think Lafleur is going to emphasize picking on the DB opposite X. That weak link sticks out like a sore thumb.

I would love to see them use Jerome Baker in that position, even though the idea of Kiko trying to cover Delanie Walker makes me nauseous.

Man am I glad I came here......

Dude McCain will be on that other side. I wouldn't consider him a weak link
