Dolphins Want To Bring In Carmichael

he does not call the plays for the saints, he benefits from having one of the greatest QB's of all time in a wide open spread offense, has cam cameron written all over him, can he lead men?, is he disciplined? no thanks to carmichael, give me mike zimmer please, lets not make the same mistake we did with cam cameron.

Everything I have read from Saints fans when Peyton got hurt he took over play calling and hasn't stopped.

I'd much prefer chud, carmichael or zimmer to philbin.. philbin looks like a 75 year old dude waiting on an aarp card....

please give me one of the other three

This is BS about him having Brees and a system that makes him look good. Well yeah, he designed the system....and he helped Brees become what he is. Ask Brees.
What's with the double standard from some of you guys? On one hand other coaches didn't lead horrible teams to good records and had bad players and they are not ever worthy of interviews. Then the coaches that have good players it's always, well it's just their players and systems making them look good. Which is it? Some folks just like looking for the negative in everything.
CarMichael is more than worthy of an interview, and it's just doesn't make since to say he has Cam Cameron written all over him. Cam has Cam written all over him, and that's it.

Also, play-calling isn't all there is to an offense. Somebody has to design it and teach it and implement it. The Saints offense did even better once he did start calling the plays as well.

can he be a head coach though? just because he comes from a good offense does not mean anything, this dude reaks of cam cameron!

Again, the Cam comparison is unsubstantiated. Cam is Cam...nobody else.
And by the same token, you don't know if he is HC material or not.. Because he hasn't done it, doesn't mean he can't...like lots of the other OCs we are looking at. And actually, designing and implementing an offense does mean a little something.

A good, or even brilliant, coordinator does not necessarily a good head coach make. It certainly merits an interview, if for no other reason than to pick the coordinator's brain, ask what scheme or personnel changes he would make with the Dolphins, etc. But an X and O's genius with no leadership ability and management skills can only lead to disaster. That's why I don't really care whether the new HC comes from the offensive or defensive side of the ball. I'm more concerned about his overall plan for the team, game management and leadership abilities. Remember, Billick got his shot as an offensive genius, and never presided over a good offense in Baltimore (though he did win with that stout defense and seemed to have good game management before losing the team in 2007). Unless Carmichael Jr. comes with Brees, we can't predict the offensive success will follow.

Let's face it, now that we are out of the market for a big name, known entity at head coach, we have no choice but to trust in Ross and Ireland (and Peterson -- or was he involved in Fisher only? -- still confused) doing the interviews and research the right way and discerning which man has the right head and heart for this job. And yes, I just threw up in my mouth a little as I typed that.

We can't know anything for sure about any of theses candidates. Can say the same thing about most of them in all these threads. Never been a HC, can he do the job? We don't know. THat's why they interview and get an impression. It's all a roll of the dice essentially. Just do the best homework you can beforehand.

Carmichael has at his disposal one of the best offensive minds in the current day NFL in head coach Sean Payton. Secondly, Carmichael has at his disposal one of the best QB's and future hall of famer in Drew Brees. Carmichael has at his disposal one of the best offensive lines in football. Carmichael has at his disposal perhaps the most diverse group of receivers in the league.

Soooo, I do need to see more. Is Carmichael that special of an offensive mind or is he a product of an amazing offensive system. There are reports that Carmichael is bland as a speaker...that is fine, but I want to know if he can lead an entire football team. Don't give me quotes from his own players with the Saints. Of course, they are going to give him high praise.

When it comes to a Mike McCoy, a Mike Zimmer of a Rob Chudzinski I CAN see with my own eyes adjustments being made and their actual coaching going on. I cannot say that for Carmichael...hence I need to see MORE.

i agree - it is not about who is a offensive or defensive genius it is about who is the best possibly motivator, game manager, leader. honestly i think we should just pull the trigger on a second interview already.

here's just 2 reasons why this guy has chops (IMO); his offense didn't lose the game, Greg Williams crew gave up 36; despite 5 giveaways, they scored 32 (book says score 30+ in a playoff you win); team's avg. scoring went up after he took over for Sean, final 7 weeks avg 38.7ppg, 5 wins of 40+ppg. wouldn't y'all want a l'il some of that?

Anyone that has rubbed off of Sean Payton gets my vote of confidence. Sign Carmichael
