Along with RB Laurence Maroney, the Patriots declared WR Kelley Washington, RB Kyle Eckel, LB Eric Alexander, C Dan Connolly, OT Wesley Britt, LB Shawn Crable and QB Matt Gutierrez inactive for Week 3 against the Dolphins.

Hypothetically, who is the Patriots backup if Cassell gets hurt? I'm kind of surprised they didn't call like Vinny Testeverde out of retirement or something when Brady went down. With Gutierrez inactive for today, who would step in to play QB?

It's somewhat surprising that they'd Belichick would let it get to that. At least Cassel has league experience, and so did Brady. Relying on a rookie.
