Dolphins will beat the Rams

Good call. I didn't check out this long thread to see if anyone mentioned the Rams were in a devastating situational spot, off a Monday night game then traveling to face a non-divisional foe. Historically that has been death. Not quite as bad now since with only 6 divisional games teams don't throw away non-divisional games as casually as prior. At one point in the late '90s this angle was on something like a 24-3 run against the spread, betting against the unrested and disinterested visitor. Not close to that now but still a very significant angle to isolate home blowouts. Philly thrashing Green Bay last season was another game that fit this situation. On another Dolphin site I posted prior to the Ram game that the Dolphins were in a great spot. I need angles and stats because subjectively handicapping the NFL I've really declined since the late '80s when you had so many wimpy AFC passing teams to pick on.

I know that spot is a good chance for miami to take the game outright but I had no idea that it also was a consistant cover against the spread either....

Yeah, I've known about that trend for a decade but really didn't take advantage as much as I should have, when it was on a roll. Some of my friends would bet massive amounts but I'd just put maybe 30-50% more than normal.

To give you examples of when it was to our detriment, you probably remember these games:

*'98 finale at Atlanta, a blowout loss after we had upset defending champ Denver at home on Monday night

*shutout loss at San Franciso 21-0 a few years ago after we blew out Indianapolis at home on Monday night

Both of those games we were underdog of about 3 and got destroyed.

Since we don't play a Monday night game this year the scenario can't hurt us. I have not checked the schedules yet to see if any of our opponents travel to Miami after playing on Monday night.
