Not sure this has already been posted. This is from ESPN'S Mel Kiper...
Question: The New England Patriots forfeited their first round draft choice (No. 31 overall). So the Miami Dolphins will pick two of the first 32 players -- No. 1 overall and the first pick in the second round. If the Dolphins draft Matt Ryan first overall, do they automatically look to a defensive lineman with the first pick in the second round?
Kiper: First, let's look at the first pick of the second round since 2001:
2007: DT Alan Branch, Arizona Cardinals
2006: LB DeMeco Ryans, Houston Texans
2005: G/C David Baas, San Francisco 49ers
2004: LB Karlos Dansby, Arizona Cardinals
2003: OG Eric Steinbach, Cincinnati Bengals
2002: WR Jabar Gaffney, Houston Texans
2001: QB Drew Brees, San Diego Chargers
Each team has a draft board with its list of top players. In the second round -- especially with the 32nd overall pick -- the Dolphins should be able to get a player who they think has a first-round grade. Is Miami going to get one of the top defensive linemen? Probably not, but the Dolphins have a lot of need areas and they can select a very good cornerback, linebacker (Keith Rivers, Dan Connor) or offensive lineman (Chilo Rachal) with the first pick in the second round.
