Dolphins Willing To Make Fisher Executive Vice President & Pay Him More Than 8 Mil

A Jeff Ireland demotion would be freaking awesome!

Fisher held the VP title in Tennessee, but my understanding is that he didnt have peronnel powers there, which lead to his falling out with the team. This doesnt mean Ireland will be demoted.

A Jeff Ireland demotion would be freaking awesome!

Be careful what you wish for when Fisher begins making terrible personnel moves. The constant hate of Ireland amuses me but let's give Fisher full control as we have had great results doing that.

He obviously wants to coach the Rams or Colts or some other team. The Dolphins may be 3rd on his list.

The ONLY reason for him to leak these details, and it HAS to be him leaking the info is to get a counter offer from the Rams.

His actual quote was, "They want you to cook the dinner, at least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries."

Yeah well everytime fat *** buys the grociers his dinner sucks!

How can he not have accepted this offer? It is crystal clear Fisher isn't sold on Miami. Let's find a coach who has a passion to coach the Dolphins.

something is wrong in all this.

jeff fisher is NEVER going to get this deal from anyone else, so as the poster above asked, WHAT THE HELL IS HE WAITING FOR?

i think even cowher would have had a hard time getting that kind of contract. the rams just are NOT that good of a job, even if his mom was running the team! the rams need a chit load of pieces to be a playoff team and bradford hasnt shown enough so far to have the FRANCHISE QB label.

MANY, MANY nfl execs around the leauge have said [and its in a recent article on line somewhere] that fisher is a very good coach, but dont let him have anything to do with PLAYER personel.

so, is he getting power over COACHING or PLAYER personel? i am fine with personel and support it as an h/c is only as good as his staff and he needs to have confidence and chemistry with all of his assistants. but some people are just not good at spotting talent even though their good coaches like wanny and don shula [after shula got the gm title our drafts took a HUGE dive].

and this back and forth with the gm is boss, no, the coach is boss now is starting to resemble the indecisivness at the end of the wanny years. CLUSTER FUGG!! ross retained ireland, a move he HAD to know was going to, and is, unpopular with the fans and widely panned by nfl writers and insiders. now he is willing to offer a coach who has a rep of being a lousy talent evaluator and has never WON a superbowl power over him?

this all just gets weirder by the minute. this is starting to look like a disaster from the git go and is undoubtedly making ross look like a bafoon to his nfl peers.

i would say just move along, but, it appears like ross is willing to ANYTHING but.

can you imagine what its going to cost for the next coach to come here? and the other teams around the leauge front offices are CRINGING right now hearing about this as every nfl coach who has had even a bit of success is going to use this deal as a base in negotiations. can you imagine what cowher is going to make once he comes back after this?

DANG! i want to be reincarnated as an nfl coach!!

If this is what hes being offered, i dont want him. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I think if you presented the evidence of the last decade, even a child can deduce that you don't give full personnel power to a head coach.

The Dolphins look like a pathetic husband begging a cheating wife to stay, and each time she says no he shows up with a bigger better gift!

seriously havent you seen the artical that said Fisher had his hands tied in tennessee >? everything had to go through the owner of the titans and alot of things Fisher wanted to do was vetoed by Mr. Bud Adams . let me ask you a question ? if you was coach of the titans and VY was your QB and you knew you couldnt win with him and wanted to go after another QB but MR Adams told you that you wasnt going to get rid of VY that YOU WAS GOING TO EITHER WIN WITH VY OR LUMP IT , AND YOU WENT 1-15 OR 2-14 I GUESS THAT WOULD BE YOUR FAULT RIGHT ????? WRONG.

People are making all kinds of excuses and standing up for him when it comes to this.. It doesn't matter. Every loser has excuses.

He's known as Jeff "6 in 17" Fisher, with a 2-5 playoff record and no ring. That IMHO doesn't deserve the title of "Highest Paid Coach".

This was a once proud franchise. The fact that we are bending over to sway him from going to his preference --the "St. Louis Rams" one of the saddest franchises in recent years (who'll probably move to LA anyhow) is pathetic. The Dolphins seem to be his last choice. Do we really want a guy coming here just for a paycheck? I say to hell with him!

So then, when are we going to see the Jeff Fisher forum opened up here?

While I know it's a major decision for him, blah, blah, blah, you have to admit this is getting pretty rediculous. Regardless of how this turns out, we are once again going to get ridiculed by the press, fans, league for looking like idiots in all this. We put all our eggs into one basket for one coach who's had somewhat limited success in his history, promise him everything in the world (control, title, pay, etc.) and then let him hold us hostage for way longer than we should have to. Like others have already pointed out, this is that difficult of a decision and makes me wonder how much he really wants to come here versus just wanting the pay day. And if he turns us down after all this, we will be (once again) the joke of the NFL. Then I wonder if any respectable candidate will want to come here after all this drama.

People are funny. They get all worked about these "reports" without knowing if it is true. Which 90% probably isn't.

You talking to me? I have been pretty quiet on the Fisher Saga and have stayed out of thet 12354685 + threads a day for thet most part. But enough is enough! Look at the stats you posted I was being very generous calling him Capt. Mediocrity!

not in this instance snoopy
