""Dolphins free safety Gibril Wilson has been fined $5,000 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness in Monday night's win over the New York Jets.

Wilson, who was flagged for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Jets tight end Ben Hartsock in the third quarter of the Dolphins' 31-27 win, incurred a 15-yard penalty on the play.

According to an NFL spokesman, Wilson was fined because he "unnecessarily struck a defenseless receiver.""

and rightfully so...it was a stupid play on Gibrils part,and him being a veteran he should have more poise than hes showing....
 
he owes the dolphins money for flat out sucking IMO.. that was a huge play at the time and though i think it was overblown and not too dangerous etc. the league is trying to make a point whether everyone agrees or not, its protecting our players.. 5,000 what a joke, this dude signed a 25 million dollar contract with somewhere between 8 and 10ish guaranteed.. sickening

why couldnt it be a suspension? would anyone go for a ban and a compensation pick?! ;] come on, BP must have at least a little pull with the comish and board ;]

Or he can do something stupid like wear sweatpants into a club and shot himself... For what it is worth I would be happy PB any day. I still think they where i little rough on him.

a little? wayy to rough, it was moronic yes, but he didnt have intent behind it, it was like a week after his teammate got held up and it was for protection. if we start arresting morons, we'd have more people in jail than out. someone like vick on the other hand did something terrible, unthinkable, knowingly with intent, and for money, his punishement honestly wasnt too much harsher than PBs.
 
I love how basically every FA we get is decent to good somewhere else, and quickly becomes our worst player here.

Joke. I applaud The Gerbil for the hit and i'm one of his biggest detractors. It wasn't malicious at all and he actually displayed proper instincts a safety should! He saw the receiver going for the ball he aimed to put on a good clean hit to make sure the receiver didn't make the catch. It wasn't spearing.

Not his fault the NFL is going soft.
