As Armando Salguero mentions in today's paper, with Ross in charge of the team, the Dolphins likely are not going to land a decent new coach when they fire Tony Sparano.

All this talk of Cowher and Gruden probably needs to end, because it is not happening. Good coaching candidates are not going to take Ross and his upcoming coaching search seriously. Best bet is that the team will just promote from within at seasons end. So we are probably looking at Nolan or Bowles as the head coach in 2012. Miami's coaching search at the end of the year will be short, uneventful and likely embarrassing. The days of star coaches fighting to come to Miami are over, this is more like Oakland Raiders east when it comes to the coaching job. So get the idea out of your mind that a Cowher or Gruden is coming here. Not going to happen.

Pay the coach and they will come. They will need autonomy as well.

Will they? Didn't Gruden turn down a huge offer from Ross earlier this year?

Because he still getting mad money from TB and MNF.

Lets see what happens in a non-lockout year too.

Bill Cowher
Jon Gruden
Jeff Fisher
Rob Ryan

All are good picks IMO.

Yea his contract with the Bucs expires after this year, so I would expect a return to coaching coming after this year as well.

A- don't listen to Armando. You'd think he would have given up on predictions by now
B- with all the failed "star" coaches they have brought in over the last 15 years, I'm ok with not landing another

Armando does seem to be ****ting on the Dolphins this week. First he reports that Ross put the clamps on offseason spending, than he reports that Ireland likely is safe and now he is reporting/speculating that the Dolphins won't be able to land a good coach. Maybe everything he says is true, or maybe he is just going for the shock factor. If all this is true though, you have to be at least a little bit worried that Ross won't be able to bring in a good coach for next season. I don't want a Mike Nolan or Rob Ryan and I am afraid that is where this team might be headed if Ross and Ireland have such a negative view around the league.

Ross better be willing to open up his wallet at the end of the year or the good coaches are going to pass on Miami. I am still on the Cowher Bandwagon despite what Armando is saying.

ive said it before. this market stinks. fans stink. everything about miami stinks to high heaven. god bless the man who takes this job.

I will not give up but I actually think getting a less high profile name is better. dont give them total reign. it will fail again. saban jimma. didnt work.

The job looks a lot better if Andrew Luck is in the future.

Giving credence to any of Mando's opinions are akin to following Rex Ryan's advice on dieting.

Yeah, but if the Fins do end up with the first pick (which I highly doubt), what're the odds that Oliver Luck is on the phone with Archie Manning discussing the similarities between Dean Spanos and Steve Ross?
