Jason FoXs replacement, I guess!

The Dolphins worked out former Falcons OT Lamar Holmes this week, according to Adam Caplan.

Holmes, 26, was taken in third round of the 2012. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $2.633 million rookie contract that included a $533,600 signing bonus, and stands to make a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

The Falcons placed Holmes on the PUP list at the start of the season before cutting him loose with an injury settlement close to a month ago.

Last year, Holmes was limited to appearing in just four games for the Falcons.

I think the first move we made after hiring a new HC being cutting Jason fox speaks volumes.

He can be worse than Fox but mot much.
In 2014 he was one of the worst tackles in football, He has looked horrible in Atlanta's zone scheme. Even though not a fan of PFF he was rated 75th out of 76 tackles that qualified as starters
In just the first three games of 2014 he had 15 hurries.
In 2013 he was rated the 4th worst tackle out of 157 that played tackle at all
Lamar holmes is pure garbage

I'd look for a swing tackle around the 3rd or 4th round. There are some good prospects that are supposed to go around that range, including the kids from Texas Tech, Western Michigan, and North Dakota State. You keep slapping garbage out there and you'll keep going 6-10.

And keep getting a subpar coaching staff that can't develop players and you'll get garbage also.

Foerster is a concern as a hire as his units over time have not ranked well. But Benton was well regarded and he was a bitter disappointment in developing players on the offensive line. At some level, it depends on the talent of the players. I don't think Jesus could turn Dallas Thomas into a good guard or Fox into a good swing tackle. We need Grier to identify the right guys and invest in the right players.

Jesus sends Dallas Thomas to Hell.

They should make Turner a backup RT and guard and have James be able to move to LT if Albert goes down.

I just think that is asking too much of Juwan James. He's a ZBS RT . . . let him focus on what he can be good at.

Turner, I'm open to him being worked as a backup OT . . . but only if we are able to successfully fill both guard spots in free agency . . . I have my doubts in this team finding two quality guards to start on this line, two that are better than the potential I saw in Turner last year.

This team needs to invest in a legit backup swing tackle (whether draft, free agency or young guy on the team) . . . a guy who's sole job is to be active on gamedays and be used as insurance for Albert/James. I don't wanna have to shuffle the entire line if an injury pops up out of nowhere.

Ideally, you sign two legit guards, and Turner is your backup swing tackle and Douglas is your backup Guard/Center . . . and that is your 7 active on game day.

I may be dead wrong but, do not see Turner as a NFL LT. For now, I have us signing one OG, Turner and Douglas the other, and a vet band aid at swing. This is assuming we keep Albert, who I would like to replace.

If Billy Turner had one thing to hand his hat on, it was his feet and overall athleticism while playing LT in college. He never should have been converted to Guard. The Guard we needed was sitting there when the Raiders used our original 3rd round pick, Trai Turner. On top of him being a Pro Bowl starter in his second year, we could have kept the 4th round pick we coughed up in the trade.

I thought I saw Douglas make some serious gains from his first duty at center. He held up at the POA and the snaps got better. Could be worth scratching the surface there as a backup interior lineman at all 3 spots.
