Dolphins working on deal for Louis Delmas

Louis Delmas at 1-3 million > Chris Clemons at 4-5 million

Byrd the Dolphin Killer ;) -> he would look good but the OLine and Dline mean so much more to this team than Byrd at this point
Defensively dline should always be a focus but we've been relying on it as our strength and we've only been mediocre. I like the timeless idea that a great D has a playmaking leader in the middle of the field. Ellerbe and Reshad failed to step into that role last year so let's pay Byrd what he's proven he's worth.

What's to miss? Delmas in practice and games because of his shot knees

Wins and losses - Delmas is an upgrade look at the production between the two

Similar albeit not the same -> Bob Sanders - hurt a lot but productive when on the field

Clemons - invisible - on and off the field

Just need to spend the FA money wisely on the Lines is my thinking - no question Byrd is a STUD!

You're basing wins/losses solely on a safety? No doubt when he was healthy he was a good player but that isn't the case. His knees are bone on bone. It probably hurts the guy to even walk. There is literally no doubt who the better player/fit for our team would be.

Ehh not really a upgrade..

Beasley has been wrong alot on player news so.. Stevie Brown is the guy I want..

Chris Clemons is a lot better than many of you realize. I don't think that he is worth anywhere near $4 -5M per season, but he is decent and a solid tackler. I would like an upgrade, but the best chance to find that is probably Pryor, in the Draft and I doubt that we invest our top pick when we have a lot of other needs.
Although maybe Louis Delmas is the low cost backup option, instead of committing bigger $ long term to Clemons.

So far I am liking Hickey's approach. Attacking our needs, Grimes, safety, pursuit of top offensive lineman. I've heard of his interests in prospective running backs in the draft. Doesn't seem to be side stepping with positions like we did with the linebackers last year.

I always thought Delmas was injury prone...

I wish we had legitimate beat writers so we had some idea what was really going on. The difference between Clemons and Delmas is marginal. It's an upgrade, but I'd rather make a serious run at Byrd.

I would too but byrd would want break the bank type money. I think hickeys playing this one right. Upgrading the position, even if it is marginal, but not breaking the bank in doing so. We have other positions more important to break the bank on.

Clemons is more of a strong safety and plays the same type of game as Jones. Im not surprised they want to go after a different safety.
