Defensive end Andre Branch seems to be hitting his prime, and the Dolphins want in on that.

Branch had the best season of his career last year, teaming up with Cameron Wake, and had great timing for that breakout given that he’s about to become an unrestricted free agent. Branch, 27, started a career-high 11 games and was second on the team with 5.5 sacks. Pro Football Focus rated him the 70th-best defensive end in the league. Beyond his on-field contributions, Branch was a key figure in the Dolphins’ locker room.

if Miami fails to resign this guy, then that's at least 2 new DEs they might have to draft. with limited picks at that.

Looking at the weak free agent class at DE, IMO, it's a must we either re-sign Branch or sign someone like Jabaal Sheard. And the more and more you look at it.... You start to realize how badly we almost have to draft a DE at 22. We can't really consider another position. Not even BPA. 35 year old Wake, Terrence Fede, and Dion Jordan is all we've got right now.

We need to re-sign Branch, sign two guards, sign a linebacker and position ourselves to go DE, LB, DE in the first three rounds.

70th? Educate me.

32 teams x 2 DE's (starters) per team = 64 DE's.....and he was ranked 70th?

How do they compute this number?

They must included the so-called "situational pass rusher"

Maybe that included the next level guys also, ie rotatinal players?

Really feel like were going DE at 22 at this point and someone should be there.

JAG would need to be a very team friendly deal

Sounds about right...If I was the GM I wouldn't even be answering his agent's calls.

Sign the man.

Id like to keep him. Made aome plays and has a knack getting some push to qb.

Andre Branch is nothing special. He certainly can't set the edge vs. the run and is merely a pass rusher. He's really just a serviceable guy and that's it.

Let me get this straight....there are 32 teams...2 starting DE's on each team....so there are 64 starters...and Branch is ranked 70th?

Doesn't sound like he should be expensive to me?

sign him as the 3rd De with incentives to pay him as a starting DE.

I'm still going after a De in the Draft and quite honestly Terrence Fede has NOT shown anything to worth keeping at a premium position like DE
