Because Jones wouldn't go thru waivers. He was cut. Only players with 4 years or less in the league go thru waivers.

i don't know about jones...i think he got like 4 years $11 mil like $3 mil guaranteed or something like that if i recall correctly...to me nickle cbs who can play are hard as hell to come by...they're a premium with all these teams going to 3 wr sets etc...nate jones to me was worth the money to keep...we struggled without him the year he left i know that

as for goodman no argument there...he was solid but nothing special...

we should have kept renaldo hill also...he was a solid free safety we let go to the broncs...always got the guys in proper position and was trustworthy to be himself where he should be...losing him for gibril wilson and the money we gave him was a joke
 
you gotta be a plum fool to cut jimmy wilson...that kids really talented...i would keep sapp also if we brought in nate jones and let them compete for who's active each week as the nickle...nothing like some decent competition and they'd both be making peanuts

Maybe because they grossly underestimate his talent. Big Nate's best success in the NFL were his years in Miami.

probably because not every team needs a nickle cb...you don't want nate jones playing the boundary...he doesn't have the physical tools to play there...

but then again there may be something here as to why he's on the street that none of us know...more to the story
