The Miami Dolphins worked out free-agent running back Dan "Boom" Herron on Monday, reports Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. The Dolphins are faced with a shortage of depth at the running back position. Jay Ajayi sits atop the depth chart, but had just 49 carries during his rookie campaign in 2015.
Herron's best season came in 2014, when he produced 521 rushing yards combined in the regular season and the postseason with the Indianapolis Colts. However, he failed to make an impact last season, rushing for 79 yards for the Colts and the Buffalo Bills.

workouts mean nothing at this point... Having said that I am glad they are thinking about RB its a position that needs work.

Herron, Pead and Thomas would battle for the fourth running back slot, but I'm not sure either couldn't be replaced effectively by someone who gets released by another team later in camp.

I hope he sticks, because I remember when he played for the Buckeyes. He always played hard and is a pound for pound good player. Go Bucks!!!

we really don't need any RBs. An RB who makes it to the NFL should have a legit skill set. So long as they have a good O-line, they should be able to run well. We have Ajayi, Drake, Pead and Thomas. Open up some holes, let them run.

Sure they mean something. They wouldn't just sign someone without having a look at them first.

My Point Dude... the workout doesn't mean we have signed a particular player or that the F.O. are looking to add anyone at this time... Its a look see and as much as its news it really doesn't mean anything... At this time!

Good to see them doing due diligence working out guys. I expect them to claim someone cut by another team when rosters are set....say like a Bishop Sankey. Some of these teams are loaded at RB. We are definitely NOT.
