There's been some concern surrounding Miami Dolphins' rookie wide receiver DeVante Parker's status for Week 1, but head coach Joe Philbin put those worries to rest. When asked about Parker's health and availability for the season opener, Philbin was more than confident he'd be on the field against the Washington Redskins.

"It's hard to predict if Week 1 he'll be ready for 30 snaps or 60 snaps," Philbin told the Miami Herald. "It's hard to put a number on it yet. We're not there yet. He's back in town. Right now he's been working, doing what he can do. And you got to let that stuff heal."

More speculation. It's been weeks since Philbin has seen Parker walk, much less begin to workout. Like Philbin's comments on Albert, it's all uncertainty at this point.

No preseason reps and missed practice time will make him a nonfactor early on

He def wont have the conditioning early on and it will take some time for him to get into the groove of things. I dont really expect much from him for the first 4-6 games, except for maybe some red zone jump balls.

Teams will still put a top db on him regardless of his offseason reps. I'm sure the coaching staff is preparing some packages to get him in as a factor early and let him build on that during the season. Any way you slice it, it'll be good having him back by week 1.

I'm ready for week 1 :)

Honestly, slowing Parkers comeback just might be the best thing for this team in the long run. Lessens the chance of Parker having to deal with the injury again, Jarvis/Jennings and Stills is a very formidable starting group of receivers, Gives us Mathews a real shot of making an impact in the preseason and guaranteeing him a roster spot. And will give young guys like Byrd, Hazel & Streeter a legitimate shot to compete for 1 spot. Then when teams think they have our Offense figured out.. Boom Here comes the Parker wrinkle.. its a good situation to have.

I doubt that. He came off of the original injury and dropped 200 yards and a TD or two against FSU. He's a machine and will be at least somewhat effective from day 1. I know that camp and preseason would help him tremendously but I still think he will exceed expectations.

what does that mean? no practice? and he walks on the field against WASH and dominates? I don't think so.

He will have to practice to play. My point was that he is still able to be effective when he hasn't had a complete off-season.
