Dolphins WR Jakeem Grant’s mom shreds him for dropped pass vs. Patriots

I would quote the whole post, but the need to give each sentence its own line is nauseating.

I don't think I excused them, but when you hear about fans going to their social media...it is uncalled for. It is funny how fans take the sport much more seriously then most of the professionals do. I don't mean that as a simple: "the players don't care", but under the idea that they have a better grasp and perspective that a bad game or losing a game has. They fully understand they are getting paid millions to play a game. As a result, bad games only effect that team, each player knows it, the coaches know it, but fans look at it as a personal insult.

While I agree with both of you where they should have to deal with scrutiny I completely agree tweeting at a player or using any other social media outlet to let a plyer hear about their poor performance is taking it over the line. The media is going to blast them and fans have avenues to vent about it on message forums, to their facebook friends (if they care), by tweeting other fans or even by calling into radio shows. I think it takes a real loser to tweet at a player after a bad performance. That is serious "get a life" material to me.

She should have married Andrew Frank’s Dad - #stopsucking.

I find built in excuses for multi-million dollar athletes to play poorly and act a fool even more nauseating....

The players make their living because of the ticket sales, merchandise sales, television contracts etc...

IE - players cash those checks because of the fans...

Bottom line - If you are a fan that supports a team, you can freely act / react in whichever manner you deem appropriate...

No matter how much it irks the FSU Truths of the world....

You sound like you are just miserable in your life and measley 60k a year

A reminder gentlemen. Leave politics out of the main forum.

Lol you guys and your jealousy riddled posts. Go out there and make a few million. Maybe then you won't pout about it and stop watching other men's pockets. Yeah, and I'm sure the athlete's talents have nothing to do with why fans spend the money they do. You just felt like donating, right?

Most of these "talented" athletes can thank genetics.

I'm not so certain that it is that far fetched to ask genetically superior / modern day "heroes" to act professionally and perform at a high level...

Is this not the same exact motivation for every coach in football?

Worth a mention... my post had absolutely nothing to do with jealousy and everything to do with my pov that a fan who supports a team has the right to react to said outcomes / behaviors....

Because its human nature, because we are emotionally invested, etc...

And because the players would not make $ without the fans, because its how the business model is setup...

Next time you drake someone, at least have it be the Degrassi one...

Its ironic that finomenal liked this post since "Maybe then you won't pout about it and stop watching other men's pockets".

Also, my life, regardless of how you might think I appear, its not comprehensible through one post on FH.

Nor is it valued off of whatever number of 0's are behind my name...

Attempting to judge another mans worth or happiness in life off of a post in a message board and a "potential" salary figure...

I mean, completely childish and trivial..

But hey, I guess the good ol' days of actually contemplating what is being discussed are long gone..

Most people who were lucky enough to be born with the athletic talent to play professional sports in this era also have to contend with the fact that they were never properly educated -- socially, academically, etc. -- as youths. For many, their athletic talents prompted their parents, coaches, teachers, and other authority figures to shield them from the realities of life that the overwhelming majority of folks have to contend with. In this way, they're kind of like trust fund babies.

So when you wonder how a guy like Devante Parker can be too stupid to take the most basic care of his body despite being a professional athlete, remember that he's been shielded from reality since at least the time that he was in high school. Football players don't take real classes in college, they have special sections where they just have to show up once a month and don't actually have to do any work. If he gets in trouble, he has people tripping over themselves to take care of it for him. If he screws up at the most basic aspects of his job, he gets a second, and a third, and a fourth chance, because on the off chance that he finally figures out how to do his job properly, he was born with the ability to do it better than 99.9% of the population.

So yeah, they probably don't care as much as you do. When you've spent your whole life being protected because natural talent makes you too valuable to suffer the consequences of failure, why would you care too much about failing? In a way, it is pitiable.

And that's also why, even though I think Tom Brady is a dipstick and a cheater, I respect the hell out of him. Because even being the best example imaginable of a shielded/coddled athlete (read up about his family background some time), the guy absolutely can't stand to fail. And he's not afraid to own up to his failure and try harder next time. Sadly, that's all too rare.

Anyway, to bring this whole stupid post back on topic a little, one thing that I like about Jakeem Grant is that he owns up to his failure. When Grant muffed a bunch of punts last season, he reportedly went and spent the entire off-season working on catching punts. The result? I think he's had ONE muffed punt this season, and has otherwise been extremely sure-handed back there. I can promise you that no one on Earth was more upset about his drop against the Patriots than Jakeem and his mom.
