Last year at this time, Yeremiah Bell was viewed as one of the Dolphins best up-and-coming players.
The strong safety had finally transformed himself from special teams standout to NFL playmaker in the second half of the 2006 season, and was expected to take the next step in 2007. But an Achilles tendon tear suffered to his left leg in the season-opener prematurely ended Bell's season, and by default plummeted his stock as a free agent.
This season Bell, who was signed an incentive laden one-year deal by the Dolphins' new regime, gets a do-over, and he's excited about the possibilities.
His play was so solid the Dolphins never allowed free agent addition Keith Davis to challenge Bell for the starting spot, and eventually cut Bill Parcells' former player a day before the team's final exhibition game. Davis has since returned to the Cowboys.

"I had so much hope going into that year," said Bell, who contributed five tackles in the overtime loss to the Redskins, his lone regular season game in 2007. "That was probably the worst thing that could have happened to me."

The Dolphins coaches and front office officials seem intrigued about the possibilities based on Bell's exhibition season showing, where the four-year veteran contributed 13 tackles (10 solo) and broke up three passes.
