This thread is dedicated to Don Shula. Our two time Super Bowl winning, coach of 25 YEARS.

They just don't make them like him anymore...

Anyone have any personal experience with the coach , that they would like to share? My family in Miami used to see him at church all the time; only heard that he was a true gentleman.

Nope, I got nothing. My fan hood began during the glorious days of John Beck. So I have virtually no memory of the 'Fins being anything close to a respectable franchise, only old grainy videos on Youtube bring back the past for me.

Never met Coach Shula before, but he would probably be on my list of 5 people, living or dead, that I would want to have dinner with.

No personal storied and never saw him coach as I became a fan during the jimmy Johnson era but his steak houses are a must for all dolphins fans. Dolphins stuff everywhere and best steak I've ever had.

I love you for posting that; if I could give you two thumbs up I would.

1972 Miami Dolphins - the only team in NFL history to go undefeated.

I had the privilege of meeting the great Shula multiple times over his Dolphin's career. Orange Bowl Prayer Breakfast, luncheons, conferences, golf charity tournaments, etc. He is an outstanding gentleman. Always had time for fans, photos and questions.

*And despite rumors about Marino, he was also the same when involved with Make A Wish and other charity events.

I was a waiter at a restaurant in Bal Harbour shops maybe 12 years ago. I took care of coach Shula and his wife. Very nice down to earth people. And yes he was wearing his Super Bowl ring.

Love remembering the days of Shula and Marino together on the field..

Oh, and I been to one of his steak houses

Huge Fan and the Greatest to ever coach the game.. I don't care what anybody thinks.. I like hard nosed coaches and he's the epitome of it..

Met him at Cal State Fullerton when the Dolphins were practicing for the super bowl against the Joe Gibbs Redskins. Was supposed to rain that day so the report was that the team wasn't going to practice, but me and my brother took the chance. Got Don's autograph, along with several other players including David Woodley.

Treasure him while we've got him. He's had health problems recently.
