Don Shula

The reason the Dolphins were so good for so long in the past was Don Shula! He took the players he had and game planed to their strengths, made the plan based on what they could do well. What Saban and company are doing is putting in a system and are trying to make square pieces fit into round holes! In a couple of years when nick has the right pieces to fit into his personal puzzle then the team will be more sucessful. However if we want to win now then we need to take a look back into the Shula philosophy!

Early on it was a building process for Shula on the way to the Super Bowls. Yes, he made it to the playoffs with the team his first year but the team already had some key players in place and he did a magnificent of picking up free agents like Larry Little (Hall of Fame guard) and Bob Kuchenberg (Hall of Fame guard nominee), plus a trade with Cleveland for Hall of Fame receiver Paul Warfield. There are alot of similarities between Shula and Saban in the way they approach the game.
