Shula said "I think the success of the draft is going to depend on their second choice: (John) Beck, the quarterback from BYU. If he comes through as a quarterback for them for a long period of time, then it will be a great draft. If Brady Quinn goes on to be a superstar, they'll be remembered for that."
(It's at the bottom of the article)

I'd love to hear more about Beck from Shula,he really
knew QB's.

LOL that was a pretty obvious and bold statement but so true!

i need to get down to shula's one of these days...i really want a steak right now....

I dont doubt the fact that Shula knows alot about quarterbacks but obviously he cant analyze the situation and give us an in depth breakdown on Beck and any of our other draft picks. I mean, a HOFer should be able to bring something different to the table.

Shula was never known as a wordsmith even in the glory years. My favorite Shulaism after a tough loss: "we just didn't get it done!" or about Marino: "it doesn't take long for his arm to reach his brain". Give the old man credit; even though he had no clue on how to improve his defense after Arnsparger left (1983,84?) he is the winningest coach in football history.

I love Shula and respect him immensely - so there is no disrespect in my next statement. Don Shula isn't allowed to use the remote control in his own house, so his opinion of how we draft cannot be used as a gauge for how good our beloved Phins draft will turn out. Keep inviting him to team functions - he is a Dolphins Ambassador - and he was the best coach in the game for a long time. I believe the success of the draft focuses squarely on the OL picks (in my opinion). If we can get some studs to keep our QB (whoever that will be :)) upright - we will be fine.
Love Coach - not so in love with his gauge of college players today and how they will help us before the pads even come on and the hitting is full blown.
PEACE

Any time Shula has an opinion on football, I will listen because he has earned the right to be heard.

all he did was say the same thing 5050503402345345345356 people in the world have said since the draft. All of a sudden to some people its like moses just handed us the 10 commandments.

You guys all better be voting for JT on the side of that article!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all there aren't even 5,050,503,402,345,345,345,356 people in the world and even if they were surely they don't all keep up with Miami Dolphins football.
As far as his coments, I agree they aren't anything we haven't already heard and no one is acting like he has given some kind of special revelation. But again, when Shula gives an opinion on a subject as far as I am concerned it adds validity to it, no matter who has already spoken about it. I am really responding more to the people that made coments that to me sounded as if they were saying Shula is irrelevant, I disagree with that opinion.

I think he would rank higher than moses in the Dolphins World.
