Was watching NFL network last night and they were talking about LB Donnie Edwards is a free agent, and San Diego may not be able to keep him

This guy is a stud!!! He had 159 tackles last year!!! Has anyone heard anythign about us bringing Edwards in? IF no, Why not??

he's not a free agent...he's on the trading block. AND they are talking bout a 1st of 2nd so no way this happens unless he's released...and even then he'll be playing out of position.

I doubt anything will happen with him...

Yeah, that's been out there for a couple weeks now. He's not a free agent, but SD is trying to dump his high salary. They want to trade him for a fairly high pick, so we and many teams won't touch him. Not to mention the $$$ he'll want from his new team. If he was a true f/a, he'd be getting a lot of attention, but with SD wanting a decent draft pick on top of the $$ he'll ask, teams just won't touch him. Maybe SD will release him outright after the draft, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Actually his salary is rather modest at 3.5 million a year...and the chargers have plenty of cap room. The problem is that Donnie wants a raise comesurate to a person with his stats (in his time in the league his stats are second only to ZT's). He's been pursuing this for quite a while. Now GM AJ smith is trying to piss of Shotenheimer by "trading" another one of his guys. Smith has been trying to consilidate his power ever since he took over. Generally GM's want to pick their own coach, but AJ is stuck with Shottie because they have been improved the last 2 years.

I think he and Zach will clash...They play the same position. Who will lead the D? Both will try.

nooooooooooooooooooooooo. too ooooooooooooooooooold to give a first day pick for.

if he were a june 1st cut, would he be beneficial for the team? I would prefer not to have character issue players, and he seem spretty normal.

also, would he work in our 3-4 defense? Crowder would have to be moved

They wouldnt clash, Edwards and Thomas are good friends.

They do, however play the exact same position. Miami only has room for one 230ish pound linebacker, and that's Zach Thomas. We cant use Edwards.
