Figured id get away from the HC threads and start one about Donnie Edwards the LB fromt he San Diego chargers.

He is an unrestricted FA at the end of the year. Wut do u guys think?

Yes he has some millage on him but he would be perfect if we totally switched to the 3-4.

Scroll down to the 2nd to last Paragraph....it talks about Edwards being being at odds with A.J. Smith the GM of the Chargers.

I think his pricetag would be too high.

Id lke him if we were unable to land Adalius Thomas or Lance Briggs.

ya i agree with u i was just trying to get some new discussions u no its been the same thing around hear for like a week. PLus i didnt see any Threads discussing him and i think he is a darn good LB so i thought id get a discusion started.

He'd be better than Spragan no doubt but he may be expensive. If we can get a guy like Briggs or Adalius Thomas, getting him in addition turns our LB core into downright scary.

yeah, no doubt, i was getting tired of the coaching threads anyway. Btw are you still 16 and if so, what happens when you turn 17?

LOL i thought about that i turn 17 in like 3 days LOL

Donnie Edwards wouldnt be a good fit here.

A 3-4 scheme can handle a smaller ILB, but he traditionally has a bigger guy next to him who can deal with blockers in a more forward moving role.

Right now Zach Thomas is that ILB. He's playing backed up off the line, behind the 2-gap side of the DL. He'd have to replace Zach Thomas, who he's similiar to but not better than, or Channing Crowder/Donnie Spragan, neither of position he can play well.

He's a stud and underappreciated in san diego... had a monster pick on sunday. Seau... deux.

And the more BRUINS, the better!

The one problem with him is his age. We need to get younger, not older on defense.

I've always liked Donnie Edwards, but I also think we need to get younger not older.
