Ive noticed that alot of fans on here have been weary of FA to help fill out some of our position, seeing the draft as the only feasible option to fill out our team, however, given the difference in time it takes for rooks to make an impact on their teams by position, I believe it would be more ideal for the dolphins to obtain a wr and lb in FA (considering there's a also a fair amount of depth this off season) and pursue db's and both lines in the first couple rounds of the draft, then looking at developmental and depth players from mid third on.. This will also set us up for best available in next years draft.
with that in mind, I dont think we should be scared of taking on players, not even those approaching, or in the neighborhood, of 30, we just need to make sure that they are quality players, who can produce and can continue to keep the winning mentality/work ethic and mentor. As far as trading draft picks, I know some of yo cry about losing them, but if the player is someone you would draft then its ok to trade picks away, like a boldin situation, if there is a chance to trade a first and something else for him, its worth it- instead of drafting a wr in the first round a being forced to wait till his third season to hit his break-out year. or picking up a LB who will play most of his first season on instinct and talent, until he obtains the nuances of NFL schemes, trends, and the little things that come with experiance.

Wow. I couldn't had put it better myself. I agree 100%. Some voices of reason are starting to fill the forum once again...:woot:

all 3 of u who think Wilford got pro bowl snubbed
yeah, saying that we should be willing to trade picks for top quality players to avoid multi-year justation periods equals wilford getting snubbed at the pro bowl

although i agree with you, and hope the FO follows your advice.. it doesnt seem like these guys are very big on signing big name players.. dont get me wrong, it seems they are willing to put out some big numbers for players (calvin pace) but still that seemed to me that they had a set price they were willing to spend and they felt no one might match that price for a lesser known guy like pace...

If we are trying to sign the biggest named players, we will prob need to dish out a bigger contract then anyone else (prob around 12 mill a year is lookin like the price this year)

I agree with ya on the front office not really being the big spenders in the league, but i think last off season wasnt really a good example, due to the fact that nobody knew we were going to be so competitive, and so paying for quality wouldnt have made as big a difference. and that there really wasnt that great a player to pay for. different scenario now, maybe we open up a little, but as i said i agree, and we probably wont open up that much...

anquan to miami. get it done. we need a legitimate threat on the outside. ted gin will be SIGNIFICANTLY better with someone the caliber of anquan on the other side.

Be patient. You will not see what Ginn is capable of until Henne is throwing him passes.

this is my belief , never turn down a chance to get a good player even if that player gets silly from time to time. I would take Chad johnson or Anquan Boldin over all other wide receivers.
I think if we use f/a to help shore up needs instead of relying on f/a to address most of our needs we will be just fine . i dont want 15 f/a players but I would welcome 5 or 6 free agent players and then draft the rest of our needs.

I like: LB Dansbury & WR Boldin from Cardinals, LB Carpenter & WR Miles Austin (could be had inexpensively) from Dallas & Chad Jonsoin if he's in the mix. Would take a chance on any of the above in Free Agency.

idk who dansbury is, do you mean karlos dansby? and boldin, carpenter and chad ocho cinco are not FA, do some research before posting.

well the thread was about offering draft picks as trade bait on players other teams have, perhaps you should read the thread before posting....

On another note, Im not sure if I would use draft picks on carpenter or austin, I just havent seen them perform at a level we couldnt find mid to late in the draft. I like boldin to demand a high price as he's not old yet, as for Ocho, Id probably have to go with a lesser 2nd round and make it conditional.
