dont drink the matt moore kool aid

let me throw some reality into all of you. This game was set up like practice except without key guys in key positions playing. Once again, for all the talk about henne, why are we not also bashing the first string defense? I mean, I get the henne int doesnt help but clearly sparano said this was just like another practice in game atmosphere. He wanted to see what the young guys could do.

I dont know about any of you, but I am quite ecstatic about guys like Livas, wilson, and gates. Moore looks good from what I can tell but I will watch the game on tape today to stop tape and clearly see whats real.

Reality is Chad Henne is our starter for one reason. He knows the playbook more than anyone else. Dont you think if bush and marshall were playing henne would not have had such a bad throw on that? They would have doubled up on marshall. Did the throw suck? Yes it did. I also noticed that Hartline completely burned his guy and #18 is getting behind defenders. If you look at what was accomplished by the team tonight instead of individual bad plays, and for a game that was vanilla, I am quite pleased based on expectations. I spent the night over at my neighbors cus I knew this game would not be worth sweatin over.

Henne looks like he is getting the ball out quicker on the hartline TD. Times past, he would wait another second and hop. Moore is stepping up into the pocket nice just a rush comes. From the highlights, it looks like Atlanta was bringing heat. They were also showcasing Julio quite obviously for the homecrowd.

I am not worried about Henne cus the coaches set the mindset to be like practice and Atlanta came out like it was home opener.

never mind, i saw the game. shouldve waited. i am aware that this game was a practice.

I'm drinking the kool-aid, especially when Henne's drink tastes like piss.

If Sporano would really give Devlin a chance, I think that he will be the starting quarterback by the end of the season; then by next year our quarterback troubles would be solved. I don't know if Miami is serious about developing him or just giving him a chance to compete for 3rd string this year.

Trade henne, oh wait no one will give us anything for him, yet new england has 2 backups that they can trade for picks at anytime. What does that tell you, Henne isn't worth SQUAT. Matt Moore is better than Henne and tony better grow a pair of balls and go in that direction.

Henne is a bad preseason game or two away from being Matt Leinart.

Out of this league totally

I somehow believe that Moore was given extended playing time because the coaching staff is souring on Henne. I liked what I saw from him and I remember how well he played when healthy in 2009. It sounds as though the FO concluded that signing Moore to a cap-friendly contract was a better long term option than yielding to Orton's salary demands, not to mention the draft pick plus player compensation required. So far I believe they made the right decision.

Good points, and certainly fitting with mindset of this organization. I just hope for once it actually works out, I like the way Moore throws the football, he looks like an NFL quarterback back there.

Sadly, we could had Mallett and Moore sitting here right now, and the potential future would look much brighter.

Yes, but Matt Moore was playing with the 2nd and 3th string offense. He has been here a week and played better with back ups he did not know then Chad Henne did with players he has known for a couple of years.

And NEWS FLASH!

Chad Henne also played against 2nd and 3th stringers and that is how he threw for his only TD, on a broken defensive play.

On the other hand, Matt Moore drove down the field and saw C Gates crossing the back of the End Zone and hit him for a TD.

C Gates and Matt Moore have been here a WEEK.

ACTUALLY..............

he threw 2 td passes didnt he?

isnt a truelly GOOD qb supposed to lightup the reserves? the back up qb's we have had for the past 12 years havnt done this.

and MATTY ICE didnt score on our 1ST TEAMERS like everyone is going on and on about. if you look at the tivo, edds, spittler, culver, ness, iwanna francwa igwanna, etc......

no one is crying about that. and everyone is thinking moore is a no nothing rookie, he is not! he took over the starting job with the panthers and was EXELLENT!! look at the film highlights that are on this board. 2010 he got hurt, his starting wr and several others were hurt and the team went down hill and fox lost his job. new regimes usually clean house and some throw the baby out with the bath water. and that baby this time was matt moore. he has made these same big plays against big time first teamers in REAL games. why is this not good for us?

what i am excited about is not some hopeful fresh face rookie in the 4th quarter of a pre season game, but a vet coming in and putting it on some reserves AS HE IS SUPPOSED TO!!! just doing what he did before his injurys last year. if this was devlin, i would be saying wait and see. but this ID A VET, not an in experianced rookie in the last 5 minutes of a meaningless game.

BUT NOT TO WORRY!! he can throw 20 td's in pre season and your boy henne will be the starter. you can bet on it!!

with sparano and his luv for all things henne, you have no reason to get excited for matt moore. it wont matter.

BUT FOR GODS SAKE PEOPLE, get the facts straight! our starters didnt get shredded my the falcons starters. they pressured ryan hard and vontae did a great job on julio. look at the film, and then see who was all in the game on defense in matty's second series. it wasnt bell and reshad on that play with the td in the end zone from ryan. it was BACKUPS!!!!!

matt moore want standing pat with no one near him. reserves or not they were draped on him the whole time and he made the plays. would henne have made those plays? honestly?

like it or not, henne DOES have real competition now for his job. and ireland and sparano have to be hating this. expect him to get lots of iffy plays sent in and get dumbed down by the staff to keep a REAL qb controversey from happening. then all the nay sayers can go see, hes nothing. just as they did thigpen in that chicago game, who will look MUCH different in buffalo, watch.

Matt Moore is slightly better than Henne.

PHIN NASTY:

really? how did you come to that conclusion. was it the way he threw the 2 td's under mass pressure? his escabaility?

and you formed this opinion after 1 half of a no nothing pre season game. i want to hear more on how you came to this conclusion, and i am sure others are curious also. not calling you out, no flame intended. just would like to see the breakdown of how you came to the conclusion so fast. you DIDNT explain.

It's not about Kool-aid, we were promised competition with Henne as the starting QB. The only QB the FO delivered that is capable of competition is Moore. The guy just showed that he is at the very least capable of competition. Now we are hearing every excuse why Henne does not have to compete. It's complete BS. I'm not a Henne hater I just want the best QB for my team.

your comparing apples and oranges. henne hit a guy in practice in the back of the endzone too. henne had one bad play on him. that double coverage bland play preseason bullcrap. Moore made mistakes too. He overthrew twice. yes he drove down the field. henne does that all the time. he just needs to get teh ball in the endzone. he did that. moore did too. nothing here really to get all down about.

who says that? henne is the declared starter, so that pisses you off. why? its preseason! things change. There most definitely is a competition. I believe sparano's words were "for now" which to me says, henne you better make it happen or you get pulled.

whats funny is this thread was created right after Moores' 1st touchdown
A couple minutes latter Boom 2 touchdowns..Moore was doing things we never seen henne do..
Like escape from pocket pressure and make a big play...henne has been coached to throw the ball away when feeling pressure or he would just throw it up for grabs ..
even with the moore interception the ball hit the receivers hands
and it was so deep like a punt.. I am already sold that Moore is a better QB..

Even Sparano said looking from the outside in
Moore looked way better than henne
though he said he found just as many correctables
when you break down sparano math if he found just as many mistakes
henne 8 attempts moore over 20 attempts
so moore still came out ahead in sparanos calculator

I hear most of your post. I dont get the end when you say they are in love with henne. sparano's job is tied to henne. he pulled the plug on him last year. he also believes he can get the job done still. I dont blame him for that because of the new offense. They simply are not going to overreact to anything in preseason on one bad play. He redeemed himself and quite admirably as well. Broadcasters said it themselves. He had 3rd and long and he took off running for the first down. then hit thomas outside for another first down on 3rd down and then hit hartline for td,btw, henne overthrew hartline the series before because hartline ran the short route when suppose to go long. they went to sideline and talked about it then hit hartline wide open for td. That is what i want to see. Not the whole team downs henne to take the heat off their mistakes!

But back to Moore. I like Moore as well. I think it was a great pickup so if we are successful with henne, then we have two very capable guys, and maybe we end up letting henne go anyways and moore becomes our guy and we draft another QB or two or three.
