when he got hurt in the preseason they should have shut him down and gotten him ready for week 1, as was suggested by several people on this site. instead, the coach called him out, he came back early and aggravated it. now he's out week 1. awesome.

Receivers usually take a couple of years to develop anyways.

I'm not going to pretend its great that hes struggled this early but peoples hysteria is ridiculous and yet another indicator of how this team has skewed fans perspectives on player development. We've been **** for so long that rookies are expected to produce immediately and when they don't fans write the player off as a bust. Hilariously, many of the same posters who slam rookies for not being stars day 1 also vehemently defend our various front office regimes.

Instead of kicking the dirty peasant rookies who don't instantly solve all of our ills, perhaps this forum should direct their ire at those who drafted said rookies. A 23 year old receiver who is banged up isn't the source of all our issues.

I'm not worried about him. When kid played last year he proved he can play at a high level.

Get healthy.

Not saying to give up on Parker, but it is frustrating he hasn't been able to contribute much. He was the 14th pick in the first round, we need our most talented guys (he's certainly one of them) on the field. As for young player development, we've been polishing turds for a long time. Usually teams have a good indication of what they have within the first couple of years.

Let's all just hope he's actually capable of doing so, and can stay on the field consistently.

DVP will be fine, provided he is given the leadership and coaching required, he has the talent and the injuries don't appear to be serious just yet.

Not even close to giving up on him. Obvious physical talent that still needs more maturing. Both mentally and physically.

Question is, will he mature?

If he was a 4th round pick I'd have no problem giving him time to develop. He wasnt.

First round picks should contribute from day 1. Other teams seem to be able to get production out of their 1st round picks, why is it so hard for us to do the same?

I'm not giving up on the kid, I'm just not going to hold my breath waiting for him.

I do not agree with the "dump him now crowd" any more than I agree with the same crowd and ajayi. young players often are immature, and it doesn't take much to eff up their confidence. Let them grow up a bit, keep them involved and around, and for gods sake don't ship them off for draft picks.

Funny but we have no say on this really. The front office decides who stay and who goes. As fans all we can do it's hope for the best. As long as the FO/coaching staff doesn't give up on him then he'll be on the team regarless of what anyone says on this board. He's got the talent but can't help us if he's not on the field. It's that simple. I'm sure everyone wants to see him play

Ozzy rules!!

How did Parker not contribute year one? He was one of our better player on offense in the second part of the season? Unless you mean every 1st round pick should be a probowler in their first season, which is not remotely close to what you should expect from rookie WRs even in the first round...

Im not giving up on Parker. I expect by the end of year 3 (2017-2018 season) he will be a pro bowler
